Job description

Position Summary:
The Sports Coordinator is responsible for management of all ancillary sports programs in conjunction with Sports Director. Sports Coordinator would also be directly involved with youth league development and any other responsibilities delegated by the Sports Director. In addition, this individual is responsible for preparing and administering departmental budget with the lead of the Sports Director, as well as developing new programs.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
• Provides overall leadership, supervision and quality control to all sports programming.
• Supervises all site staff appropriately.
• Creates a positive atmosphere, which boosts self-esteem and general self-concept of all participants.
• Plans/implements well-organized and well-varied activities in program areas.
• Communicates clearly and regularly with parents about the program and any related material.
• Oversees the growth and development of the Adult Basketball Leagues and Basketball Academy Programs.
• Assists the director in youth league management and organization.
• Assists in maintaining a balanced budget and accepts responsibility for generation of budget income to meet expenses.
• Oversees staff by providing training, direction and evaluating performance.
• Implements staff discipline policies, and supervision under the direction of the Program Director.
• Encourages and supports staff development through continuous shadowing, training, monitoring, redirection and recognition.
• Oversees site participation in annual sustaining campaign to meet assigned goals.
• Maintains close communication and coordination with school/facility administration/personnel for safety and benefit of children in the program.
• Maintains close communication with Program Director of all issues concerning the program area.
• Other duties as assigned based on family center requirements or needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities / Position Requirements:
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 2-4 years of sports program experience participating in or teaching various Youth Sports to children or comparable experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
• First Aid/CPR/AED certified (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
Other skills and abilities:
• Bilingual, English and Spanish, a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Daxko software program, preferred.
• Must be organized and detail oriented.
