Job Title: Sports Management Faculty

Department: Health & Rec Division

Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center - Marion, IN

Summary of Position:    The Division of Health and Human Performance at Indiana Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time Sports Management Faculty position. The Division of Health and Human Performance is home to two undergraduate majors: Exercise Science and Sports Management, as well as minors in Camp and Recreation Administration, Coaching Education, Health Promotion and Wellness, Military Leadership, and Sports Ministry. The Master's in Athletic Training degree is also housed within HHP. We have 7 full-time faculty members and over 250 student majors. The Masters of Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education and the Exercise Science program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

The ideal candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Position to begin July 2026, pending funding.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and administration for the professional experiences and internships for HHP students 
  • Facilitate communication between program faculty, students, experience supervisors, and seminar instructors 
  • Teach courses each semester to support HHP majors, minors, and programs, creating an inclusive classroom climate that is conducive to learning. Effectively use the IWU learning management system to distribute course materials to students
  • Provide academic advising to HHP students and counsel students on vocational goals and issues 
  • Participate in professional organizations, serve on university committees, and engage in scholarly activities within and outside the department 
  • Display behavior consistent with the North American Society of Sports Management Code of Ethics 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Doctoral degree in sports administration/management or associated field work is required.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years professional experience and at least one (1) year of teaching experience, preferred

  • Interpersonal skills that facilitate relationship building and teamwork among colleagues, external agencies, and students.

  • Evaluation skills related to the impact of teaching and learning, and the ability to make modifications in instructional design based on that evaluation
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to students in oral and written form
  • Proficiency in using computers, internet resources, MS Office and Learning Management software
  • Oral and written comprehension and expression
  • Speech clarity
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage and motivate students for excellence in their academic pursuits
  • Ability to effectively work with students, faculty, support staff and the general public in a professional manner
