Receptionist Position

Admissions is seeking for a qualified and experienced full-time receptionist. This opportunity is an overnight position from 11pm to 7:30am. A two-week orientation is required, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Rockford Center is a 138-bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing easy access to a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. Rockford is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in DE, offers an experienced and tenured senior management team, and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland.

Position Summary: The receptionist greets patients, family members, and visitors, and responds to telephone inquiries in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner at all times. Assists or directs patients/family members or visitors to appropriate areas based on needs. Provides clerical support to the management team as needed. Handles multiple priorities within appropriate task deadlines. Maintains confidentiality of all facility-related information.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned and as dictated by the patient's condition in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
  • When administering PRN medications, assess for confirmed medication for PRN, documents need (rationale) and its effectiveness in the medical record.
  • Reports change in patient physical, mental status or episodes of seclusion or restraint to nurse manager or supervisor during each shift.
  • Ensures family and physician notification is completed and documented if a patient is transported to Emergency Room, injured, falls or is placed in seclusion or restraints.
  • Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care.
  • Performs treatments and therapies as ordered by physician in an appropriate and timely fashion.
  • Documents patient care, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
  • Documents PRN medications given, reason and effect.
  • Initiates emergency measures according to age appropriate CPR and client resuscitation protocols.
  • Participates in emergency crisis interventions according to age appropriate techniques.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility and staff in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
