Job description

To consistently achieve the service and product delivery standards with a high degree of client care and service throughout The Bar and Lounge and to provide an exceptional and memorable guest experience. The Bar and Lounge Host is responsible for proactively welcoming, greeting, and managing the Bar and Lounge seating in accordance with The Umstead Hotel standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and dressed in accordance with The Umstead Hotel and Spa appearance standards
  • Proactively welcome, greet, seat, manage waitlist and bid fond farewell to all Bar and Lounge guest in accordance with The Umstead Hotel and Spa standards.
  • Must be able to maintain calm, professional composure during busy or stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of all Bar and Lounge outlet standards and operating procedures as it relates to the Host position.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication abilities to interact with guests and to accurately communicate guest needs such as special occasions or dietary needs.
  • Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to concerns and requests.
  • Being able to consistently perform tasks within a given time frame to insure all host tasks are completed on time and services are executed in a timely manner.
  • Being able to consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Perform administrative duties including managing a waitlist, taking outlet reservations, and print menus as needed.
  • Ensure proper care, security and maintenance of hotel equipment.
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings and quarterly department meetings.
  • Attend all required training as directed by your manager.
  • Assist with clearing and resetting tables if needed.
  • Comply with The Umstead Hotel & Spa Vision and Values.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers, supervisors, and other hotel departments.
  • In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your hotel management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to continuously stand/ walk a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Must be able to periodically lift and carry up to 15 lbs. over the course of a shift.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Umstead Hotel standards.
  • Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements.
  • Must be able to operate Bar and Lounge equipment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education:

High school or equivalent education required.

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years of customer service experience. Restaurant or hotel experience preferred.

Licenses or Certificates:

Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
