Job Overview

Our client, a rapidly growing leader in the utility-scale renewable energy industry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Operations Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight for electrical construction activities across large-scale solar energy projects. This senior leadership position will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring safe and efficient project execution, and supporting commissioning efforts across multiple project sites and regions.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record leading field execution on utility-scale solar projects, improving operational performance, and driving measurable results through accountability, productivity management, and strong electrical leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Operations Leadership
  • Provide executive-level oversight of electrical construction activities across multiple utility-scale solar projects.

  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve electrical standards, procedures, and best practices.

  • Lead execution of medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) systems, including power collection systems, cabling, inverters, transformers, grounding, and commissioning support.

  • Serve as the primary electrical authority for clients, EPC partners, project stakeholders, and internal leadership teams.

  • Standardize electrical execution practices and promote consistency across all project sites.

Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a strong electrical safety culture across all projects.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NESC, NFPA 70E, and project-specific safety requirements.

  • Oversee electrical safety programs, audits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and corrective action plans.

  • Drive accountability for safety performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Execution & Performance Management
  • Lead field execution efforts while maintaining productivity, quality, and schedule objectives.

  • Collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, and Operations teams on scheduling, workforce planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.

  • Identify and mitigate electrical risks, constructability challenges, and resource constraints.

  • Support mobilization planning, logistics coordination, and material readiness.

  • Monitor and improve key operational metrics, including production rates, schedule adherence, inspection pass rates, labor productivity, and rework reduction.

  • Drive operational transparency through performance tracking and reporting.

  • Provide leadership and corrective action plans for underperforming projects and field operations.

People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Electrical Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, and field personnel.

  • Build scalable organizational structures capable of supporting multiple concurrent projects.

  • Support recruitment efforts, workforce planning, and succession development initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop future leaders through coaching, mentorship, and performance management.

Quality Assurance & Commissioning Support
  • Ensure all electrical installations meet QA/QC standards, project specifications, and testing requirements.

  • Oversee inspections, testing documentation, turnover packages, and compliance records.

  • Support commissioning, energization, startup, and project closeout activities.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical construction experience, preferably within utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or large infrastructure projects.

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a senior-level role such as Director, Electrical Operations Manager, Senior Superintendent, or equivalent.

  • Extensive experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.

  • Strong understanding of NEC, NESC, OSHA, and NFPA 70E standards and requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead large field teams across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Experience working within EPC organizations or major electrical subcontractor environments.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction documents.

  • OSHA 30 certification required.

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites.

Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing field execution on utility-scale solar projects, including responsibility for project scope, MW capacity, manpower planning, and electrical construction performance.

  • Proven history of improving underperforming field operations through leadership, process improvements, and operational discipline.

  • Experience owning and managing key operational metrics, including production rates, inspection pass rates, labor productivity, rework percentages, and schedule performance.

  • Ability to provide measurable examples of operational improvements and successful project outcomes.

  • Experience supporting commissioning, energization, and turnover activities on utility-scale renewable energy projects.

  • Strong background managing multiple project teams across diverse geographic regions.
