Job Description
Hannah Solar is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PV Design Engineer to join our team in Atlanta. This position will play a critical role in designing and engineering solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The PV Design Engineer will work closely with our sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, and code-compliant solar solutions that meet client needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design Development: Lead the engineering and design of PV systems from initial concept to construction-ready plans for a range of project scales, including commercial, and industrial.
  • System Layout and Site Planning: Verify and optimize the initial system layout and equipment locations, including site plans, mechanical racking, attachment layouts, and single-line electrical drawings.
  • Technical Review and Compliance: Review and interpret structural and electrical drawings to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards. Engage in design review processes, focusing on energy storage, microgrid integration, and other advanced features where applicable.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate closely with sales consultants, procurement managers, project teams, and customers to deliver effective project solutions. Provide engineering support to operations, service, and sales departments as needed.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize design software such as AutoCAD, Energy Toolbase, and Helioscope to create and refine system designs.
  • Quality Assurance and Support: Assist with day-to-day technical challenges, provide streamlined project documentation, and support quality control efforts to meet project and client standards.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in PV system design or a related engineering field. Experience in estimating or designing electrical systems is a plus.
  • Competence in AutoCAD is mandatory; experience with Helioscope and/or PVSyst is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic systems, electrical standards (such as NEC requirements), and general construction practices.
  • Ability to conduct accurate assessments, interpret technical drawings, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
