Our facilities are capable of receiving, storing, processing and dispatching cargo, so we can build flexibility and resilience into the supply chain process. Our integrated solutions allow us to be prepared for supply chain risks, so we can plan distribution to better achieve lead time and goals despite unexpected conditions. Our extensive experience, connections, and deep expertise across different sectors, industries, and transportation modes, means we can be counted on for process excellence that will save time and money.
SUMMARY:
  • The Solutions Design Engineer position reports to the Solutions Engineering Manager. The Solutions Design Engineer executes data analysis, generates workflows, and constructs initial warehouse and distribution design concepts for new and existing clients.
  • This is a hands-on, front-end Solutions Design Engineer role focused on concept development from data analysis → facility layout → costing → presentations → RFP support. The role is execution-oriented and requires a practitioner mindset, directly producing layouts, models, estimates, and proposal content.
  • The Solutions Design Engineer will work on the Engineering Design Team to create and publish final designs. The designs will include solution concepts, CAD drawings, cost estimates, modeling outputs, and presentation materials to support customer proposals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze order data, inventory data, and SKU profiles to support facility layout and solution development
  • Provide productivity, capacity, and space estimates in support of business development and Requests for Proposal (RFPs)
  • Own front-end solution concepting, including layout development, automation ideation, and high-level system modeling
  • Create presentations to support engineering recommendations and present solutions to senior management and customers
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine the ROI on proposed solutions
  • Participate in customer presentations and proposal reviews
  • Consult with operations personnel to validate that proposed solutions are practical, cost-effective, and implementable
  • Support RFP responses and proposal development, including scope definition, assumptions, narratives, and technical content
  • Develop facility and automation concepts using CAD and modeling tools, incorporating conveyance, robotics, and complex material handling technologies where applicable
  • Collaborate with integrators, vendors, and internal stakeholders to evaluate automation approaches and solution alternatives

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Three to five years of experience in warehousing and distribution. Automation and solution design experience preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Additional preferred experience:
  • RFP support and proposal development experience
  • Facility layout and automation concept design using CAD and modeling tools
  • Exposure to conveyance systems, robotics, and complex automation solutions
  • Background with a 3PL, systems integrator, or automation/solution vendor
  • Demonstrated success in a hands-on "doer" role, producing designs and deliverables directly rather than operating primarily as a people leader

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This role requires approximately 25% travel (some international travel may also be required)
  • Role is primarily office-based but can be remote with site visits to warehouses, vendors, and customer locations as needed

Company Benefits:
