What jobs in the US pay 300,000 a year?

A Solar Closer typically earns between $70,000 and $150,000 annually, with top performers in the solar industry potentially reaching higher incomes through commissions. Jobs in high-paying fields such as medicine, law, finance, and executive management often exceed $300,000 per year, especially with experience, advanced certifications, or leadership roles. These roles usually require specialized skills, extensive education, or significant experience.

How does a Solar Closer collaborate with sales and installation teams throughout the sales process?

A Solar Closer works closely with both the sales and installation teams to ensure a smooth transition from lead generation to project completion. After securing a signed agreement with the customer, they coordinate with project managers, site assessors, and installers to relay important details, address customer concerns, and keep the client informed about next steps. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, as Solar Closers often act as the main point of contact, helping to resolve any issues that arise and ensuring customer expectations are met throughout the installation process.

What jobs will no longer exist in 2030?

The Solar Closer role is unlikely to disappear by 2030, as demand for solar energy installation and sales continues to grow. However, some manual or routine jobs in the energy sector, such as traditional energy meter readers or manual equipment operators, may decline due to automation and digital monitoring technologies. Adaptation to new skills and certifications will be important for job security in the evolving energy industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Solar Closer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Solar Closer, you need strong sales skills, a solid understanding of solar energy solutions, and experience in customer relationship management, typically supported by a background in sales or renewable energy. Familiarity with CRM software, solar proposal tools, and basic financial analysis is often required. Exceptional communication, persuasive negotiation, and active listening skills help build trust and close deals effectively. These competencies are crucial for meeting sales targets, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving business growth in the competitive solar industry.

Job description

Salary: Base + Commissions

ATX Solar is hiring a full-cycle inside sales solar closer to work inbound opportunities, events, and home shows from first conversation through signed contract and customer approval.

This is an inside sales role for someone who can do more than just set appointments. We want a closer who can convert leads, build proposals, handle objections, get contracts executed, and hand off to the project management team. This position has a solid floor and a high ceiling.

You should be comfortable owning the full sales cycle without needing constant supervision.

Role

  • Work inbound and marketplace solar leads quickly and professionally
  • Pull and manage opportunities from lead platforms and internal sources
  • Work through contact cadence and follow up with homeowners by phone, text, and email
  • Attend home shows, events, and other lead-generation opportunities as needed
  • Ask smart qualification questions and gather utility, roof, and project details
  • Build customized proposals in OpenSolar
  • Present solar and battery options clearly based on homeowner goals
  • Explain financing and payment options at a high level without overpromising (Traditional financing, PPA, Prepaid PPA, VPPA, etc)
  • Handle objections, compare options, and keep deals moving
  • Get contracts signed and help customers through approval steps
  • Maintain clean follow-up, CRM discipline, and strong handoff to operations

What were looking for

  • Experience in solar sales, in-home sales, inside sales, or other high-ticket closing roles
  • Strong phone and text communication skills
  • Ability to work inbound marketplace leads and convert them into signed deals
  • Comfortable building quotes, reviewing proposals, and discussing financing
  • High attention to detail from quote through contract
  • Able to answer customer questions directly instead of using canned scripts
  • Coachable, organized, and accountable
  • Solar experience is preferred, but strong closers from adjacent industries are welcome

What success looks like

  • Fast response times
  • Strong contact-to-appointment and appointment-to-close performance
  • Accurate quote buildout
  • Clean financing and proposal communication
  • Professional customer handoff after sale
  • Ability to generate consistent referrals
  • Consistently hitting monthly performance goals

Why ATX Solar

We're a local Texas company built around custom design, in-house execution, clear communication, and long-term support. Your internal sales guidance also emphasizes personalized outreach, accurate proposal buildout, and earning the next step with the customer instead of relying on generic scripts.

Compensation

  • W2 position
  • Base + commission
  • Flexible comp structure based on experience and production after 90 days
  • Full Benefits package with PTO, 401(k), Health, Dental and Vision insurance offerings

Ideal background

Local solar sales professionals with a working knowledge of Texas' utility markets preferred.

  • solar sales
  • roofing or HVAC sales
  • mortgage or finance-heavy sales
  • inside sales for home services
  • high-ticket appointment-to-close environments
  • previous energy brokers
**All applicants must undergo full background check prior to employment**
