Apprentice Electrician – Solar Construction

Location: Emerson, NE

Project Type: Utility-Scale / Commercial Solar

Employment Type: Project-Based (2–3 Months) | Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Electrician to support an active utility-scale solar construction project in Emerson, Nebraska. This role is ideal for an apprentice looking to gain hands-on experience in large-scale solar installations while working under the supervision of licensed Journeyman and Foreman electricians.

The Apprentice Electrician will assist with installing, assembling, and maintaining electrical systems for photovoltaic (PV) solar installations while following NEC, OSHA, and site safety requirements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installing, terminating, and testing electrical wiring and equipment for PV solar systems
  • Support DC and AC electrical work including combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, and disconnects
  • Pull wire and assist with conduit installation (EMT, PVC, Rigid)
  • Help with grounding, bonding, and labeling per NEC standards
  • Read and follow electrical blueprints, one-line diagrams, and schematics under supervision
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment safely
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
  • Follow all site safety rules and participate in daily safety meetings
  • Work closely with Journeyman Electricians and Foremen to complete tasks efficiently
  • Assist with troubleshooting and commissioning activities as directed

Required Qualifications
  • Active Electrical Apprentice Registration (Nebraska or reciprocating state)
  • 1+ year of commercial, industrial, or solar electrical experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Familiarity with electrical tools, materials, and jobsite practices
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Physically able to lift materials and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Reliable transportation to the jobsite

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior solar or renewable energy project experience
  • Utility-scale or large commercial construction exposure
  • OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 a plus)
  • Desire to grow into a Journeyman Electrician role
