TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a talented and experienced Director, Software Engineering for our TransSuite® development team in Peachtree Corners (Atlanta Metropolitan Area), GA.

Join the team in our office at the Technology Park, located near the Curiosity Lab in Peachtree Corners, and work on strong, high-performance back-end software for our web-based Intelligent Transportation Systems solutions, including our TransSuite™ suite of traffic management systems.

The successful candidate must have 8–10 years of commercial software development experience and domain knowledge in traffic control systems, including knowledge of NTCIP. In addition to the development experience, the candidate must have 3+ years in a managerial or leadership role, supervising software engineering staff.

Work arrangement: This position is hybrid. However, the selected candidate will be expected to align with the team’s in-office schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Take system and software requirements and develop estimates and schedules to implement the requirements
  • Define or update development procedures to achieve development schedules and systems with high quality
  • Drive the architecture, design, and coordination of software development activities on a centralized traffic signal management system
  • Guide the development staff to meet set deadlines.
  • Track and report quality and schedule adherence to upper management.
  • Support a strong collaborative, engaged, and energetic culture

Required Skills and knowledge: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or Traffic Engineering. An engineering degree in a related field may be considered.
  • Knowledge of traffic signal controllers and related standards such as NTCIP
  • Experience developing or leading the development of a traffic signal controller or central traffic signal management system product
  • Knowledge of networking, security, and software engineering best practices

Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Application development experience with Java is a plus
  • Knowledge in SOAP, XML, JSON, Web Sockets, RESTful services, or similar a plus
  • Knowledge of native cloud technologies is a plus
