Staff Engineer, Software Development (Backend Developer – C# & .NET Core)


About the Opportunity


Our client is seeking a Staff Engineer, Software Development (Backend Developer – C# & .NET Core) to join an innovative engineering organization building scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications.

This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role where you'll design, develop, and enhance backend services that power mission-critical software platforms. Working alongside Product Managers, Architects, Cloud Engineers, and fellow developers, you'll help shape technical direction while mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise backend applications using C# and .NET Core.
  • Build scalable, secure, high-performance REST APIs and backend services.
  • Design cloud-native software solutions using containerized technologies.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Solution Architects, Infrastructure, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and testable code following modern engineering practices.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, optimize, and enhance existing applications.
  • Integrate backend services with databases, messaging platforms, APIs, and third-party systems.
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
  • Perform code reviews and promote software quality, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership across the team.
  • Develop technical documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Expert-level experience developing backend applications with:
  • C#
  • .NET Core
  • Strong experience building RESTful APIs and distributed backend systems.

Experience with:

  • Kubernetes
  • Docker
  • Helm
  • PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, microservices architecture, and software design patterns.
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
