Vice President, Software Engineering & AI Transformation

Position Summary

MEDHOST, a division of Harris; is seeking a technology executive to lead software engineering and continue to advance MEDHOST's technology and AI strategy across the product and platform portfolio. This position will lead and continue to build high performing software engineering teams, execute on the company's technology strategy and drive an AI first innovation strategy throughout MEDHOST's AI-DLC and product portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities


Engineering Organizational Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing software engineering organization accountable for product delivery, technology evolution, security, reliability, and operational outcomes
  • Improve delivery predictability, developer productivity, software quality, resiliency, scalability, and cost effectiveness while balancing innovation, modernization, and commitments
  • Partner closely with executive leadership, product management, operations, and security to translate business strategy into executable technology priorities and investment decisions
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure strategic progress, software engineering effectiveness, AI adoption, and business impact
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to create competitive advantage through innovation
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology and AI-related opportunities, risks, and industry trends

AI Strategy & Innovation

  • Execute the organization's AI-first transformation strategy across products, software engineering, and AI-DLC with a prioritized roadmap tied to measurable business and customer outcomes
  • Execute and continue to evolve the R&D department's AI-DLC strategy incorporating industry best practices and new technology innovation to continue to increase engineering and process efficiencies through AI technology
  • Drive incorporation of AI-powered experiences into customer-facing products and enterprise workflows
  • Oversee planning, execution, governance, risks, dependencies, and resource allocation for strategic technology and AI initiatives across the product portfolio
  • Stay current on industry advancements across models, agent orchestration, best practices and other emerging technology innovations

Technology Strategy and Platform Modernization

  • Execute and evolve MEDHOST's technology strategy and architecture roadmap aligned with corporate objectives, product priorities, and customer needs
  • Lead modernization of legacy applications, cloud platforms, API's, and AI capabilities using advances in architecture and engineering approaches
  • Drive improvements in software delivery performance, quality, resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency
  • Govern technology standards and investment priorities; identifying opportunities where AI and emerging technologies can create measurable differentiation and operating leverage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • 15+ years of progressive technology experience including 8+ years of progressive software engineering leadership experience and 5+ years in senior leadership roles leading large software engineering organizations.
  • 3-5+ years' experience with EHR and healthcare software environments
  • Demonstrated success leading modernization and software platform transformation initiatives
  • Deep expertise in modern software engineering practices, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, and enterprise architecture
  • Proven experience implementing AI and machine learning capabilities within enterprise products and AI-DLC workflows
  • Strong understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI frameworks, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI orchestration, and AI governance
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries and navigating complex security, privacy, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with Claude, OpenAI technologies, Microsoft Co-Pilot and AWS Bedrock a plus
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing technology investment portfolios and business cases
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale high-performance engineering organizations
