Position Overview
The Business Development Manager responsible for driving strategic growth within the Energy sector, including Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Chemical, and Refining markets. This role will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new construction opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing clients and industry partners. The ideal candidate is a proven sales professional with a strong background in selling industrial construction services and an established network throughout the Southeast region.
The Business Development Manager plays a critical role in expanding P&E's market presence by collaborating with estimating, operations, and executive leadership to develop winning strategies, maintain long-term client relationships, and achieve annual business development objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new construction opportunities within the Energy sector, including Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Chemical, and Refining
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve annual revenue and growth objectives
  • Establish rapport with prospective clients while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing customers
  • Identify opportunities to increase service offerings and provide additional value to clients
  • Pursue strategic opportunities that strengthen the company's presence within targeted markets
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with owners, engineering firms, EPC contractors, and industry organizations
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, client presentations, and other business development activities
  • Promote the company's capabilities, safety culture, and value proposition within the marketplace
  • Collaborate with estimating and operations teams by reviewing project opportunities and providing feedback on estimates
  • Support Project Managers in customer communications throughout all phases of awarded projects
  • Assist in developing pursuit strategies, proposals, and client presentations
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and accurately track opportunities using Salesforce or other CRM software
  • Participate in team meetings, strategic planning sessions, and complete assigned performance objectives
  • Champion and exemplify the company's safety culture in all business interactions
  • Maintain accurate reporting, forecasting, and customer activity records

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful business development experience selling construction services within the Energy industry
  • Demonstrated experience developing and securing projects within one or more of the following markets: Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Chemical, Refining
  • Advanced knowledge of the heavy industrial construction industry
  • Established relationships with owners, EPC firms, engineering companies, and industrial clients are strongly preferred
  • Experience conducting business throughout the Southeast region is highly preferred, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce CRM (or similar customer relationship management software)
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territories
  • Ability to work in an office environment and periodically visit active construction sites
  • Ability to traverse construction sites in varying weather conditions
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and upholding a strong safety culture in all business interactions
