Job description

Position Title: Operations SE - Senior

Position Overview:

The Operations Domain SE provides expert-level technical and operational support across SOCOM and Joint Staff missions. This position supports global, theater-level operations, enabling mission success through system integration, training, software implementation, and synchronized situational awareness. Engineers in this role must have strong familiarity with operational environments, Joint and SOF processes, and Command and Control (C2) systems such as Common Operational Picture (COP), Tactical Data Links (TDL), and Operational Area of Interest (OAI) systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and operational expertise in support of SOCOM and Joint operational planning and targeting cycles.
  • Implement, train, and support SOCOM and Joint Staff Programs of Record, including:
    • Common Operational Picture (COP) Management
    • Operational Area of Interest (OAI) Management
    • Commander's Critical Information Requirements (CCIR)
    • Mission Planning and Navigation Systems
    • Special Operations mission planning tools and systems
  • Prepare and check out unit mission plans and flight plans for special operations missions involving aircraft weapons systems and other mission-critical systems.
  • Identify unit-specific capability gaps in software and mission systems and report findings to SOCOM HQ for resolution.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs), Joint Task Forces, and Service Components to align mission planning tools and C2 relationships.
  • Attend and actively participate in Area of Responsibility (AoR)-level working groups and forums related to:
    • COP and Tactical Data Links
    • Mission Command and Joint Fires
    • Sustainment, Protection, and Operational Integration
  • Develop and deliver user training, system updates, and technical documentation as required.
  • Maintain situational awareness and provide subject matter expertise (SME) support to deployed and CONUS-based units.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8 years+ of progressive technical support experience in operational or Intelligence Community (IC) environments.
  • 8 years+ of experience in implementing and training software systems/updates, standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of C2 systems, COP platforms, and operational task organization structures.
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed units and reporting operational capability gaps.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for technical training and coordination.
  • Experience in implementing, training, and documenting software systems, including SOCOM or Joint operational platforms.
  • Proven leadership and/or coordination across Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces.
  • Experience in operational planning, software fielding, and mission command integration.
  • Participation in or leadership of AoR-level working groups and technical forums.
  • ACTIVE Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility required

Preferred Skills & Tools:

  • Familiarity with TDL integration, GCCS, and mission planning systems.
  • Understanding of SOCOM mission types and command relationships.
  • Experience with mission-critical software implementations in live or training environments.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel globally in support of operational units.
