Title:                            Process Technician

Reports To:                 Shift Supervisor

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School education with vocational or trade school.
  • Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing experience in the plastic injection molding industry.
  • Plastics Technology training and/or RJG Master Molding certifications highly desired.
  • Mold setup/tear-down with plastic trouble-shooting experience is required.
  • Experienced with Nissei, Cincinnati, Toshiba, and Toyo injection molding machines.
  • Forklift/Overhead crane experience.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common molding defects such as short shots, flash, splay, etc.
  • Working knowledge of polypropylenes, nylons, PVC, PC/ABS, POMs, etc.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Able to adapt to schedule changes as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Computer skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer).

General Description:

The Processor is responsible for the manufacture of products using the defined process.  This process results in a product that meets or exceeds customer quality requirements and meets BOM standards.  Responsibilities include product start-up, process monitoring and troubleshooting products from raw material to ready for shipment.  The Processor must provide a safe organized work environment for operators and report broken equipment or unsafe conditions to the Supervisor.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Perform mold start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and approval of production runs using accepted                                      quality standards.
  2. Diagnose and correct problems with the molding processes, including molds, set ups, automation, etc.
  3. Interface with the quality, materials, and scheduling personnel to ensure efficient resolution of problems               and minimal machine downtime.
  4. Monitor molding parameters using approved techniques to ensure conformance to quality guidelines                              and standard cycles.
  5. Performs line clearance in the event of process interruptions and/or adjustments.
  6. Visually inspects product to the requirements as specified on the production specification                                     documents prior to start-up submission.
  7. Comprehend and work with material handling systems.
  8. Coordinate and assist with training, corrective action completion and monitoring.
  9. Performs mold trials, mold changes, process optimization studies, process monitoring and verification                          of part conformance to specifications.
  10. Follows company safety rules, procedures, policies, and maintains a clean and orderly                                 environment.
