Job Summary
The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine is seeking a full time Hand and microvascular surgeon to join its academic faculty. All ranks will be considered. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach residents, engage in research, and participate in clinical program development. Specific area of focus will primarily be Hand Surgery, but micro-breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, oncologic and traumatic reconstruction, and an aesthetic practice will also be available for the faculty member. All candidates must have completed a Hand Fellowship with eligibility for the Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand (SOTH) and be either ABPS board certified or in the process of certification. We offer an academic career in an environment that promotes professional excellence. The ideal candidate will be board certified and possess superior technical skills. Research is an important component of our Division, with peer reviewed funding and over 20 major publications last year alone. The ideal candidate would be expected to bring, and further develop, national recognition to our program at the clinical, research, and educational levels.

Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience and achievement. UK HealthCare has grown to a 920-bed healthcare complex with 39,000 discharges per year.
The successful candidate will join a thriving and expanding division. The Division of Plastic Surgery faculty is comprised of 7 board certified surgeons, each of whom has interests and expertise that reflects the increasingly specialized field of surgery. The Division has active clinical interests in the areas of microvascular, Hand, and Craniofacial Surgery. The Hand Center is a collaborative venture between the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Patient visits are approaching 12,000 per year and Hand Therapy is embedded into the clinic with over 1,000 visits per month. All aspects of hand surgery are addressed, including trauma, congenital, rheumatoid, and reconstructive surgery. The governance of the Division of Plastic Surgery is under Departmental leadership (Barry Inabnet, MD), which allows synergism between divisions and a robust environment for our residency program, a 6-year integrated residency program with two new residents added annually. We have one Hand Fellow per year under the guidance of the Plastic Surgery RRC. The hand fellow rotates among the faculty members of Orthopedic hand and Plastic Surgery Hand trained physicians.
