Job description

Who we are:

Illumia is an industry leader in bringing the best integrated technology solutions to education, healthcare, and business campuses worldwide. Illumia was built on the collective expertise of two legacy cultures, and brings together people, technology, and insight to pioneer the art of the experience across the communities we serve. Be a part of this exciting organization and improving the lives of people doing mission-critical work.

Why join our team?

We strive to provide the best customer experience in the industry and have succeeded with a single, strong motivating principle: We serve our user community.

Our success and growth are directly attributed to our people. Our newly named company is dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity, respect, and continuous personal development. We maintain an entrepreneurial spirit, where creativity, innovative problem-solving, and learning agility drive our day-to-day actions.

What you will be doing:

Illumia is seeking a strategic, hands-on Social Media Manager to own our organic social media presence, our employee advocacy program, and the strategy for expanding our reach to new platforms. This role manages the enterprise social media calendar — coordinating content contributed by Growth Marketing, Events, Brand, Product Marketing, and Engagement teams alongside original brand content built to drive awareness and follower growth — and owns the Sprout Social advocacy program end-to-end, from content submission through results reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-driven mover and shaker — genuinely passionate about social media, who takes ownership of the role and proactively finds ways to grow it, rather than waiting to be told what to do next. They are highly organized, data-informed, and excited to build out Illumia's presence on new channels, including unlocking the untapped potential of our existing YouTube content.

Job Summary / Purpose

Who you will work with:

This role partners closely with Growth Marketing, Events, Brand, Product Marketing, and Engagement teams to coordinate their content into the social media calendar. The Social Media Manager also works with the Senior Communications Strategist to ensure brand and messaging consistency across channels, with Human Resources on employee advocacy program adoption. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Marketing.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Channel Strategy & Expansion

  • Develops and executes a strategic plan for Illumia's social media presence to include platform expansion and messaging.
  • Builds a specific plan to activate and grow a YouTube presence, leveraging Illumia's existing video and content assets that are currently underutilized.
  • Recommends platform-specific best practices and content formats to maximize reach and engagement on each channel.

Social Media Calendar & Content Coordination

  • Owns and manages the enterprise social media calendar, coordinating incoming content from marketing teams into a single, unified publishing schedule.
  • Builds and publishes original brand content designed to drive brand awareness and follower growth across corporate social channels.
  • Ensure consistent brand voice, quality, and publishing cadence across all scheduled content, regardless of the source team.

Employee Advocacy Program (Sprout Social)

  • Owns and manages the Sprout Social employee advocacy program end-to-end: adding new content for employees to share, monitoring submissions and participation, and tracking results.
  • Identifies and recommends improvements to increase employee adoption, participation, and reach through the program.

Social Listening, Engagement & Response

  • Monitors social channels daily for mentions, comments, and engagement (social listening), responding to posts and messages in a timely, on-brand manner, as well as escalating or redirecting as necessary.
  • Tracks engagement and sentiment trends and reports out regularly on social listening insights and response activity.

Process, Documentation & Reporting

  • Documents social media processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure consistency and continuity.
  • Owns data analysis across all social programs — advocacy, organic content, and social listening — with insights and recommendations for improvement.

What You'll Bring:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in social media management or community management.
  • Proven experience managing organic social media programs and content calendars across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with social media management and social listening tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar).
  • Strong writing skills for social-specific formats and platform-native content.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with Sprout Social, including managing an employee advocacy program.
  • Experience developing or executing a multi-channel or platform expansion strategy (e.g., YouTube, TikTok).
  • Experience with video content strategy or repurposing existing video assets for social distribution.
  • Experience in B2B, SaaS, fintech, technology, or higher education industries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Monday.com, HubSpot, or similar platforms.

 Essential Functions of the job:

The duties and responsibilities described in this job description are intended to represent the essential functions of the position as defined under applicable federal, state, and local labor laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These functions are the fundamental job duties required for successful performance.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions unless such accommodations impose an undue hardship on the organization.

This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities. Duties may be added, removed, or modified at any time in accordance with business needs and applicable law.

What is good to know:

This role is based out of Illumia's Alpharetta, GA, Scottsdale, AZ, or Ithaca, NY offices, with remote candidates also considered. Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, events, or content shoots.

Competencies and Behaviors

  • Self-driven and passionate about social media and content — takes ownership, moves quickly, and looks for ways to grow the role rather than waiting to be directed.
  • Strategic thinker who can assess new platforms and channels and build actionable expansion plans, balanced with a sharp eye for on-brand execution.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across Marketing, Communications, and Sales.
  • Data-informed, using analytics to continuously refine content and channel strategy.
  • Calm, solutions-oriented approach to community management and reputational issues.

Our leaders are Humble, Hungry, and Smart:

  • Humble: The right leaders for Illumia don't need to own the spotlight — they share credit, define success collectively, and are quick to elevate the contributions of others. This is a company that still writes its story. The leaders who thrive here find energy in building something together, not in being recognized as the smartest person in the room.
  • Hungry: We are not looking for caretakers. We are looking for leaders who are restless about what's possible, self-motivated to close the gap between where we are today and where we need to be, and who are already thinking about the next opportunity before anyone asks.
  • Smart: At Illumia, our leaders must operate across a complex, distributed organization spanning multiple product lines, two legacy cultures, and thousands of customers with competing priorities. Technical skills matter, but the ability to read a room, build trust across functions, and bring people along is what separates a great leader from one who burns the organization out.

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and applicable state wage-and-hour laws.

What you get when you join our team:

  • Flexible time off to include paid holidays and volunteer time.
  • Robust health, dental, and vision insurance plans on your first day of employment
  • Comprehensive employee assistance program (EAP)
  • Employer-paid life insurance/AD&D/short-term and long-term disability insurance
  • Flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA)
  •  Matched 401(k)
  • Employee stock purchase plan

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with Illumia's Candidate Privacy Notice
