Job description

Title: Dusenbery Operator
Functional Area: Slitting Department
Reports to: Shift Supervisor
Schedule: Training on days but eventually move to permanent night shift (6:00pm-6:00am)
Position Description: The primary purpose of the position is the operation of the Dusenbery slitting machine to achieve objectives of production, quality and safety. This position will provide slit PVC rolls for both internal and external customers.
Dusenbery Operator Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
  • Operation of Dusenbery slitting machine with little to no supervision.
  • Labeling, packaging, and palletizing rolls for delivery to customers.
  • Troubleshoot machine problems and communicate equipment issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Meeting quality and production standards, minimizing scrap and downtime on designated shift.
  • Performing quality checks on material, comparing actual results to specifications, and communicating results to the Shift Supervisor.

Key Competencies:
  • Performing all job functions in a safe manner, follow and enforce all TRIDENT policies and procedures.
  • Leading housekeeping efforts and always maintaining a clean and safe work environment including cleaning of both slitting machine and edge trim grinder.
  • Identifying and immediately communicating personnel and safety issues to the Shift Supervisor and assisting with investigations and resolutions of the issues if needed.
  • Accurate and complete reporting of production and quality data both manually and in computer systems.
  • Reporting any continuous improvement opportunities to the Shift Supervisor
  • Moving materials as needed using forklifts or overhead cranes.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Excellent safety and attendance record.
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating day and night shifts, and report on time for scheduled shifts and follow company attendance policies.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Basic knowledge in math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Possesses basic computer skills.
  • Possesses basic problem-solving skills.
  • Understands production rates and production schedules.
  • Capable of using a tape measure, decimal scale, and digital calipers.
  • Ability to balance and achieve results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost Reduction
  • Must have the ability to complete two or more tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision and maintain a working and up-to-date knowledge of products and services.
  • Must be able to handle self in a professional manner with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to take responsibility for self.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to continually bend, stoop, crouch, reach above shoulder, use arms, wrists, grasp and squeeze with hands, access constricted spaces, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to dusty or dirty ambient conditions.
  • Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to hot or cold ambient conditions.
  • Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to mild chemical irritants.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
  • Excellent forklift skills with the ability to safely move pallets of material into storage racks.
  • Ability to use an overhead crane to safely move products and machine parts with no damage.

Training:
  • Training would be a mixture of online training on safety, quality, and production procedures along with on-the-job training conducted by an experienced Dusenbery Operator.
  • Training duration would normally be 2 months.
