While both sleds and snowboards are used on snow, sleds are simple, non-technical devices primarily used for sliding downhill, often for recreation or transportation. Snowboards are specialized equipment requiring skill and balance, used for snowboarding sports and tricks. The main difference lies in their design, purpose, and the skills needed to operate them.

What are sleds?

Sleds are vehicles designed to glide over snow or ice, typically used for transportation, recreation, or sport. They have smooth runners or a flat bottom, allowing them to move easily across frozen surfaces. Sleds can be pulled by people, animals, or gravity, and come in various types, including toboggans, dog sleds, and sledges used in winter sports. In some regions, sleds have historically been an essential means of travel during snowy months. Today, they are popular for activities like sledding hills, dog sled racing, and bobsled competitions.
