Position Summary

We are seeking a well-rounded Slate Consultant (Admissions or Student Success focused) to join our growing team. The Slate Consultant role leads engagements across a portfolio of client accounts, with a focus on Slate implementations and ongoing Slate support/capacity extension. You will use your dynamic product knowledge and Slate experience to guide clients in best practice configurations, troubleshoot issues, and strategize successful approaches to solving complex business process problems. Our work with clients is highly collaborative, and we prioritize teaching users how to do the work in Slate, rather than always doing it on their behalf. The goal is for clients to feel empowered and well-prepared for the future after our work together.

This is a role for someone who likes to make things work better. The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical thinker with project management and significant Slate experience, who is excited about building processes and systems for improving our clients' experience with Slate. You have a strong orientation towards execution and excel at managing details, seeing how all the pieces fit together and making things run smoothly.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish a trusted relationship with clients and work to ensure their overall satisfaction and success with Slate
  • Create and manage strategic success plans and project timelines for clients
  • Work to understand client processes and motivations, and maintain a high degree of functional expertise in Slate as a means of helping clients be successful
  • Lead client engagements in the following areas of focus:
    • Slate Implementations
      • Lead Slate implementations for clients in your areas of expertise, and assist colleagues with implementations for a range of clients to gain diverse experience
      • Utilize project management skills to ensure the implementation is progressing effectively and on schedule
    • Audit/Diagnostics
      • Diagnose and inventory clients' current use, configuration, and design of Slate
      • Recommend areas for remediation, enhancement, and exploration
    • System and Process Optimization & Support
      • Troubleshoot client issues in your areas of expertise
      • Improve and streamline existing client processes, and train on their use
    • Reporting and Analytics
      • Build intermediate to advanced reports in Slate in a variety of areas, including funnel data, communications statistics, territory reports, organization/dataset reports, ping data, and more
    • Training
      • Lead client training sessions in a variety of formats: small group online (via Zoom), large webinar, and in-person (including on campus, pre-Summit, etc)
      • Prepare custom training materials for clients based on their specific Slate business processes

Required Qualifications

  • Highly organized with an aptitude for working in a constantly changing environment and adapting changing priorities. This means being able to take on multiple projects, prioritize effectively, manage your time to meet deadlines, and eagerly tackle work that ranges from in-depth projects to ad-hoc help and support.
  • Demonstrated project management experience. You are able to move projects forward even when time is limited and opinions differ.
  • Accountable with strong attention to detail. Able to balance working independently with the good judgement to decide when to update stakeholders or escalate a problem.
  • Experience with and/or belief in the importance of customer service as a foundational aspect of business success. You enjoy going the extra mile to make things right and people happy.
  • Posses a client-centric attitude to listen with empathy and the ability to explain both technical and non-technical concepts and issues
  • Well-rounded Slate knowledge and abilities, including several areas of mastery
  • Technical Slate skills necessary to conduct root cause analysis, including relational database understanding, SQL, and a problem-solving mindset
  • Experience with, or desire to learn, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and front-end frameworks
  • Bachelor's Degree, plus 5+ years of professional work experience or 7-10 years + of professional work experience in higher education/CRM systems
  • 3+ years of advanced Slate use or Slate administrator experience
