Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Modeling and Simulation Engineering Manager 2 (Modeling and Simulation Manager) to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position will be full time in the office and located in San Diego, CA.
This role will support the Product Support EI&E (Engineering Integration and Execution) and lead the Modeling and Simulation team and SOW (Statement of Work) execution. This role will be responsible for, the direct supervision/management of the staff, providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing mgmt guidelines & general policies, coordinating the priorities between multiple OU (Operating Units), ensuring high quality engineering analyses, talent development and management, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of all work packages. The Modeling and Simulation team is responsible for applying technical expertise to develop new/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms. Having a Complete understanding of modeling and simulation best practices and techniques with an emphasis on developing mathematical models, both deterministic and stochastic.
This role will lead the Modeling and Simulation team through all Program responsibilities, including:
  • simulating operations and developing models that simulate system behavior, modeling operational environments, performing trade studies via simulation, and recommending alternative architectures
  • developing and integrating mission-concept development, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), spares sensitivity, Operations and Support (O&S) cost analyses/ROI, and model-based systems engineering
  • developing and adapting existing models, methods, and simulations to support the design, development, and sustainment of system-design concepts and technologies
  • communicating with internal and external customers with minimal supervision
  • practical experience and interpretation of modeling and simulation results, algorithms, and formulas, and the ability to communicate their significance and relevance in a clear, detailed manner

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM field (Science Technology Engineering Math) and at least 9 years of related experience in Modeling and Simulation, and/or another related experience or 7 years with Master's Degree in STEM
  • At least 2 years of MAAF (Model for Asset Availability Forecasting) or LCOM (Logistics Composite Model) experience or another engineering field of experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a final Government Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree from a STEM Field
  • Complete understanding of Modeling and Simulations concepts and practices
  • Familiarity with Tempo and EDCAS
  • Experience with data mining techniques. Understanding of data analytics and visualization techniques
  • Active Government Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $158,700.00 - $238,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
