Volunteer Opportunities

Vera House, Inc. is a human service agency that provides unconditional care for individuals and families through comprehensive domestic and sexual violence prevention and intervention services. We believe in collectively serving members of the community and creating an environment of accountability for our services.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a volunteer at Vera House, Inc., your support and care can make all the difference to a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or elder abuse. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities that can help support our organizational goals during our events that take place throughout the year. Our greatest needs can include volunteers to help with event setups, registrations, ushers/hosts, information booths, and clean up. Another volunteer need is help with our donation sorting or packaging which can vary throughout the year.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Setup: Assisting with venue setup, decorating help with tables/chairs based on the layout plan.
  • Registration and Welcoming: Manage guest check-in and distribute event materials.
  • Usher/Host: Guiding guests to their tables or areas based on seating map. Provide information about the schedule of events.
  • Information booths: Set up brochures, informational materials, Vera House merchandise at tabling events.
  • Auction assistants/spotters: Set up auction items and assist bidders. Monitor silent auction items.
  • Clean Up: Assist with post event clean up. Pack up decorations, and leftover materials and place in designated holding areas.
  • Donation Help: Sorting donations or packaging up care packages, needs vary throughout the year.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be removed from your own personal crisis situation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to Vera House’s mission and values.
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check.
  • Completion of agency orientation and basic training on domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse.
