Position Summary:

At Lees Marketplace, we take pride in having integrity in all that we do, including the pricing throughout the store, and that starts with our Scanning Department. In the scanning department, as a team, you will oversee the pricing throughout the entire store. From changing prices in the register system to printing, hanging, and validating tags on the shelf, your team will play a vital part in the success of our store. The Scanning Manager ensures that all pricing in the store is accurate, assures signage reflects correct pricing, trains and oversees the scanning team and the accuracy of their day-to-day tasks, and maintains measurable terms in the department set by the Store Director and Scanning Director. The Scanning Manager is very important part of our team and must comply with corporate pricing policies regarding vendors, departments, and procedures . Primary Position Duties:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Tests, verifies and scans all UPC marked items in store on a rotation basis for pricing and tagging accuracy. Frequent price verifying on direct-store delivery items is to be implemented regularly.
  • Ensures changes for all prices marked on all items, shelf tags, and in-store signs is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Ensures all in-store price markings are timely and accurate. Maintains exact correspondence with the in-store price file.
  • Continually monitors pricing for errors and ensures they are corrected immediately.
  • Ensures self and scanning team members maintain productivity standards and other responsibilities as needed as directed by leadership.
  • Maintains adequate and appropriate department records at all times. Updates price books on all price changes on a weekly basis.
  • Has knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, programs and directives. Refers to Team Member Handbook continually to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Promotes a harassment-free environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation to management.
Guest Service:
  • Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
  • Answer telephone inquiries; take messages; return customer telephone messages
  • Be familiar with, and assist customers with use of, Lee's Marketplace website, including rewards.
Product Handling:
  • Assist in the maintenance of the displays throughout the store according to store standards.
  • Ensure product freshness by assisting with the verification of date coding on items
  • Assist with the ordering and stocking of all Scanning Department tools, including but not limited to, tag and printer paper resources, office supplies, sign holder, etc.
Cleanliness and Safety:
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Report any safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
Cash Handling (if applicable):
  • Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
  • Follow store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds.
  • Ensure the security of cash and other financial transactions.
Team Collaboration:
  • Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals.
  • Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
  • Provides a safe, clean, and positive environment; and consistently builds and supports a culture that is based on relationships and continuous improvement.
  • Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members.
  • Coordinates with the Store Director for the training of all team members involved with scanning to include trainers, assistant managers, department managers and clerks.
  • Provides a professional example for other team members to follow.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Work in a fast-paced, sometimes crowded, sales environment with tact and patience
    Work with team to ensure products are sold well before their expiration date
Position Requirements:
Age Requirement: 18yrs+
Availability: 5:00am-6:00pm Monday-Saturday, Holidays Required Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment.
  • Repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance.
  • Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting repeatedly.
  • Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders are required.

Education or Skills:
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Previous experience in retail or guest service (preferred).
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members, and guests.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in training and developing staff.
  • Proven ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve goals.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to address operational challenges.
  • Ability to implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various store operations simultaneously.
