Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping & Receiving Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the flow of goods and materials throughout the supply chain, ensuring efficient operations and timely delivery. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a solid understanding of logistics processes.
Summary: Directs and coordinates shipping department activities to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely movement of outbound shipments, either personally or through subordinate staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
  • Supervises employees engaged in packaging products, shipping, loading and unloading trucks, and storing, retrieving, packing, and distributing finished goods, including gathering, packaging, and shipping all aftermarket products.
  • Establishes shipping KPIs.
  • Controls the shipping budget.
  • Develops project plans, coordinates projects, communicates changes and progress, completes projects on time and within budget, and manages project team activities.
  • Attends production meetings.
  • Ensures proper packaging processes are followed.
  • Coordinates outbound transportation by working directly with logistics providers, freight companies, customers, and internal teams to determine shipping methods, timing, and cost-effective delivery.
  • Coordinates with transportation providers and suppliers to select appropriate transportation modes, negotiate rates, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintains supplier and carrier relationships to support efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transportation operations.
  • Ships and tracks all shipments going to the warehouse.
  • Assists with managing warehouse operations, including warehouse inventory and scheduling transportation to and from the warehouse.
  • Assists with international shipping.
  • Establishes and maintains a continuous flow process to ensure prompt deliveries to customers and timely turnaround on customer returns.
  • Develops or revises standard operating and work practices and observes employees to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Analyzes logistics and shipping processes, identifies improvement opportunities, and implements solutions to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Manages key shipping documents, including bills of lading.
  • Assists with processing shipping documents, preparing invoices, and tracking shipments in coordination with the shipping department.
  • Maintains accurate records of all logistics activities, including shipping documents, invoices, and warehouse inventory data.
  • Requisitions and stores shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory levels.
  • Maintains an orderly and neat shipping stock area.
  • Communicates with internal and external suppliers, customers, and transportation providers to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Creates reports and graphs for the monthly management meeting.
  • Approves subordinate time records daily.
  • Resolves employee grievances or submits unresolved grievances to Human Resources for action.
  • Works scheduled departmental hours.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: Associate degree (A.A.) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field, plus 5+ years of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
