Job Summary:
Essential Duties
  • Safely and economically produce quality products for SGI customers while ensuring the safe, reliable operation of plant equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Be a role model for safety, while driving a continuous improvement culture within your work group.
  • Lead, manage, and develop work skills of employees.
  • Manage costs at the lowest possible level while producing quality products on-time in quantities required by the production plan.
  • Lead and manage special projects.
  • Ensure safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards are met at all times
  • Acquire and demonstrate thorough knowledge of MSHA standards
  • Use good organizational and time management skills
  • Lead and manage assigned production and/or maintenance personnel to safely meet/exceed all established goals and/or objectives
  • Team player - positive interaction and participation on teams
  • Know and understand all product specifications
  • Clearly understand the process and equipment locations
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills
  • Effective verbal/written/listening communications skills
  • Proficient computer skills - email, spreadsheets, Maximo
  • Accurately and timely preparation of required reports and maintaining accurate data and records as required
  • Schedule/plan manpower and/or production schedules
  • Notification of downtime to management with clear/detailed explanation of issues as required
  • Write clearly defined work orders and develop SOPs for department

Qualifications Required
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) /GED Equivalent Required
  • College Degree and/or Trade Certification Preferred
  • One (1) year of general understanding of the Plant process, such as Quarry, Mill, Color Plant, and Load out.
  • One (1) year knowledge of MSHA standards

General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to perform a variety of craft management duties in connection with installation and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment.
  • Ability to perform data entry and maintain computer files.
  • Safety of others when repairing or leading.
  • Keeping equipment in operation during scheduled production hours.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems in a mining/manufacturing operation
  • Evaluate planned methods and procedures used on a wide variety of jobs.
  • Diagnose problems with equipment and decide on corrective actions and resource allocation.
  • Use all types of mechanical hand tools.
  • Use personal computer keyboard.
  • Fill out requisition forms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building and customer service skills
