Job description

Senior Trial Attorney

We are seeking an experienced Senior Trial Attorney to join a growing plaintiff-side litigation practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned trial attorney who can independently manage a docket of high-value motor vehicle accident cases, primarily involving commercial vehicle matters.

The successful candidate will take ownership of cases through litigation, trial, and verdict when necessary. This position offers the opportunity to handle complex, high-exposure cases while working alongside a collaborative and experienced legal team.

Responsibilities

Trial Leadership & Case Ownership
• Serve as first-chair or co-chair trial attorney in jury trials
• Independently manage litigation matters from filing through resolution
• Develop and execute trial strategies and case themes
• Maintain a docket of high-value personal injury cases

Litigation Strategy & Execution
• Manage complex litigation matters through all phases of trial
• Draft, argue, and respond to substantive motions
• Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts
• Prepare cases for mediation, settlement conferences, and trial
• Work closely with retained experts and consultants

Case Development & Value Maximization
• Evaluate cases for litigation potential and trial readiness
• Develop strategies to maximize case value
• Oversee evidence collection, inspections, and expert investigations
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff on case assessment and development

Settlement & Negotiation
• Lead negotiations in complex litigation matters
• Conduct mediations and settlement conferences
• Assess settlement opportunities and trial value

Leadership & Collaboration
• Mentor and guide associate attorneys
• Partner with litigation support staff to ensure trial readiness
• Contribute to overall case strategy and firm growth initiatives

Client Advocacy
• Maintain strong client relationships throughout litigation
• Prepare clients for depositions, mediations, and trial testimony
• Communicate legal strategy, risks, and expectations effectively

Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Texas
• 10+ years of personal injury litigation experience, with a focus on motor vehicle accident cases
• Significant jury trial experience required
• Strong litigation, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage a high-volume litigation caseload
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
