Senior-Level Attorney Opportunity

The Third Judicial District Attorney's Office is seeking an accomplished senior-level attorney to join its leadership team as Chief Deputy District Attorney.


This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced legal professional who is committed to public service, possesses strong leadership abilities, and is prepared to help lead one of New Mexico's premier prosecutorial agencies.


Working directly with District Attorney Fernando Macias, the Chief Deputy District Attorney serves as a trusted advisor and executive leader responsible for assisting in the administration and strategic direction of the Office. This position combines executive leadership with meaningful prosecutorial responsibilities, providing the successful candidate the opportunity to prosecute significant criminal cases, mentor attorneys, collaborate with law enforcement partners, and help shape the future of criminal prosecution within the Third Judicial District.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory or administrative experience.


Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Six (6) or more years as a prosecuting attorney.
  • Six (6) or more years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience leading attorneys and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of public sector administration and organizational management.
  • A demonstrated commitment to mentoring attorneys and developing high-performing legal teams.
