Associate Trial Attorneys focus on courtroom litigation, trial preparation, and representing clients in court. In contrast, Associate Litigation Attorneys handle legal research, document review, and pre-trial activities. Both roles require a JD and bar admission, often working within law firms or corporate legal departments. The main difference lies in the trial involvement, with Associate Trial Attorneys actively participating in court proceedings, while Associate Litigation Attorneys support the case preparation process.

What are some common challenges Associate Trial Attorneys face when managing multiple cases?

Associate Trial Attorneys often juggle several cases at once, which requires strong organizational and time-management skills. Balancing competing deadlines, court appearances, and client communications can be demanding, especially when preparing for trial or unexpected developments arise. Effective prioritization and clear communication with supervising attorneys and support staff are crucial to ensure each case receives the necessary attention. Additionally, staying up to date with legal research and changes in the law is essential to provide the best representation possible.

What does an Associate Trial Attorney do?

An Associate Trial Attorney is a junior-level lawyer who assists in preparing and presenting cases in court. Their responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, interviewing witnesses, and helping to develop case strategies under the supervision of more experienced attorneys. They may also represent clients in preliminary hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings. The role is often considered a stepping stone to becoming a lead trial attorney, providing valuable courtroom and litigation experience.

Advance Your Litigation Career as a Senior Associate Trial Attorney at
Gray, Duffy, Eisenbaum & Lee!

Are you a seasoned trial attorney looking to bring your expertise to high-impact cases in a supportive, respected litigation practice? Gray, Duffy, Eisenbaum & Lee, LLP, a boutique civil litigation firm with deep roots in California, is seeking a Senior Associate Trial Attorney to join our Woodland Hills office.

About Us

Gray, Duffy, Eisenbaum & Lee LLP (GDEL) is a well-established firm with offices in Woodland Hills and Redwood City. We focus on a broad range of civil litigation matters, including insurance defense, personal injury, construction defect, employment, and business disputes. Our attorneys are known not just for their skill and professionalism, but for the camaraderie and support that make GDEL a great place to work and grow your career.

About the Role

As a Senior Associate Trial Attorney, you will be a key member of our trial team, overseeing complex litigation from pre-litigation through verdict. This is a hands-on role ideal for an attorney who thrives in the courtroom and enjoys shaping legal strategies that deliver results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of litigation, from initial analysis through trial and resolution.
  • Develop comprehensive case strategies and oversee their execution.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and handle court appearances.
  • Draft and respond to pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial documents.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.
  • Lead settlement negotiations and participate in mediations and arbitrations.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10–15 years of experience in civil litigation, with an emphasis in personal injury, insurance defense, or business litigation
  • Extensive trial experience, including first-chair jury trials preferred.
  • Strong legal analysis and writing skills.
  • A high level of organization, independence, and attention to detail
  • Active membership in the California State Bar, in good standing

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation: $160,000–$240,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Quarterly performance-based bonuses
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, 401(k) with match, and more.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave after a brief probationary period
  • A respectful, collegial environment that supports work-life balance and long-term career satisfaction.

Why Gray, Duffy, Eisenbaum & Lee, LLP?

At GDEL, we believe in doing excellent work—and enjoying the process. You’ll join a team of experienced litigators who value collaboration, mentorship, and integrity. If you're looking for challenging, meaningful cases and a workplace that respects your time and talent, this is your opportunity to thrive.
