Job description

Description & Requirements
Medical Interpreter Translators facilitate clear, accurate and effective medical and general interpretation for healthcare staff, patients, companions and visitors. This includes, but is not limited to, interpretation, and complex scheduling.
What You Can Expect:
  • Produce accurate, culturally and linguistically appropriate written translations of healthcare content in alignment with approved terminology, style guides, and health literacy standards
  • Utilize CAT tools, translation memories, and terminology databases consistently to ensure efficiency, standardization, and audit-ready documentation
  • Apply required quality assurance practices, including self-review, editing, and/or revision processes appropriate to role, to ensure linguistic accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with supervisors, senior translators, clinicians, and subject matter experts to resolve terminology, workflow, or content questions impacting translation quality or patient understanding
  • Identify and appropriately escalate system, access, or workflow issues (e.g., tools, document access, terminology resources) through supervisory channels or Service Desk to maintain operational continuity and compliance
  • Monday-Friday, Hours: 8:00-5:00

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3 years relevant experience
  • Certificate: Minimum 40 Hours of Professional Medical Interpreter Training.
    • Language Assessment: Must successfully pass language assessment through St. Luke's Health System prior to hire.
    • AND One of the following -Certified Healthcare Interpreter from Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters OR -Certified Medical Interpreter from The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters
