Job Description
Position Purpose:
Integrated in the T&P ESS team, the Hazardous Waste Senior Technical Manager is responsible for driving and/or supporting, management and execution of technical projects and topics throughout the Hazardous Waste BU.
This role will be involved in operations support, development & innovation, project management and support to business development throughout the Hazardous Waste BU, and on demand on Corporate topics.
This individual must have a strong background in the technical field in the environmental business with experience in business operations, knowledge of finance principles and project management. The position will also require leadership of some special projects such as capital expenditure projects.
  • Hazardous waste transfer stations and solidification (TSDF)
  • Hazardous water Incineration plant
  • Hazardous waste Landfill
  • Medical waste autoclaves
  • Solvent regeneration distillation plant
  • Emerging market such as electronic wastes, Mercury engineered fuel, Blade recycling and EVB

Primary Duties /Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and performance support to the Hazardous Waste group
  • Participate to the development of associated business cases and memos for internal GoNoGo (WIN process)
  • Provide the overall direction and management of his/her assigned projects, including the assigned personnel, equipment, and subcontractors, applying proper and effective project management procedures and skills.
  • Ensure the project or assignment is planned and coordinated according to the required schedule, with strict adherence to health and safety, quality and budget considerations.
  • Participate or Lead technical due diligences of new business acquisition or plant upgrades.
  • Assist Business Development in preparation of estimates and procedures in planning of projects, financial estimates with a strong focus on operational efficiencies.
  • Actively participate in feedback and post-job evaluation of assigned projects.
  • Develop new process optimizations or pilot new technologies, coordinating some tests with corporate functions (BS&P)
  • Test and implement new tools under development
  • Work in cooperation with other T&P members for supporting team organization, reporting and delivery.
  • Other duties as directed.

Work Environment:
  • Hybrid work policy (office/remote)
  • Travel 25% of the time
  • Required to Travel across Hazardous Waste locations on a regular basis based on project assignment

Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
  • 5-10 years experience in transversal technical/support functions and/or operational functions (ex : operation manager, plant manager, technical manager...)
  • Bachelors in Chemistry or Chemical engineering preferred
  • Masters degree in Chemical engineering is an asset
  • Experience in hazardous/industrial waste treatment, industrial wastewater treatment
  • Experience in oil or solvent recovery is a strong asset
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Waste Industry knowledge is a plus
  • Developed presentation and communication skills, internally and externally
  • Understanding of PSM and change management methodology

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Thinking skills: decision making ability, seasoned judgment.
  • Skills in leadership, planning, coordination and labor relations.
  • Strong time and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage project and coordinate project teams against ambitious deliverables and timelines; Multitask and organizational skills
  • Strong skills in analysis and problem solving,
  • Outstanding writing, communication skills both up and down and mentoring skills.

  • Exceptional communication (both written and verbal); ability to develop and deliver structured and effective presentations to clients at all levels of staff and management;

Required Certification / Licenses / Training:
  • Driving license
  • P-Eng is an asset

Additional Information
Annual Pay : Minimum of $135000 to a maximum of $150000
