The Senior Corporate Accountant will report to the Director of Corporate Accounting of The Heritage Group (THG). This position is responsible for the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, as well as management reporting and analysis necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements. This position is also responsible for maintaining effective and efficient operating policies and procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement. This role is highly cross-functional and requires collaboration and partnership with a wide variety of teams across the business and add value through data-driven financial insights.
Essential Functions
  • Perform monthly close activities, such as prepare journal entries, roll-forwards, and reconciliations of GL accounts and maintain accurate supporting documentation
  • Review of accounting transactions for appropriate accounting treatment according to US GAAP
  • Support business functions and respond timely to inquiries
  • Participate in special projects as needed, such as accounting systems implementation.
  • Data entry tasks, including entering & posting in the General Ledger
  • Other accounting tasks as assigned by accounting management
  • Ability to work with and act in utmost confidentiality with sensitive company
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills
  • Prepare and support preparation of annual financial statements and related reporting packages, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Compile supporting schedules, roll-forwards, and variance analysis with clear, precise documentation
  • Assist with consolidation activities, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations across multiple entities
  • Support internal and external audit activities, including independent auditors, regulatory agencies, ensuring strong audit outcomes and proactive issue remediation
  • Contribute to technical accounting research and memo documentation for non-routine or complex transactions
  • Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities to automate and streamline recurring accounting tasks, reconciliations, and reporting workflows
  • Document processes and maintain up-to-date procedures to support scalability and cross-training
  • Contribute ideas and assist in implementing AI initiative and help translate concepts into practicable, repeatable workflows
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established internal controls and support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of effective controls over financial reporting
  • Identify control gaps or process weaknesses and escalate recommendations for remediation
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience

Experience Qualifications
  • Required 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting and/or finance
  • Preferred Great Plains/Dynamics Experience is a plus

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills and multi-tasking ability
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel

Licenses and Certifications
