Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering strategic initiatives that improve operational efficiency, project execution discipline, productivity, and quality across the organization. The role supports the PMO as a center of excellence by applying structured project management practices, engaging cross-functional stakeholders, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring that projects deliver measurable and sustainable business outcomes.

  • Project Management: Lead assigned projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring clear scope definition, governance, integrated planning, schedule adherence, budget control, risk management, and delivery against approved objectives.

  • PMO Standards and Governance: Apply and continuously improve PMO methodologies, tools, templates, reporting routines, and decision-making processes to support consistent project execution across the organization.

  • Process Analysis: Analyze workflows, systems, handoffs, and business processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Performance Metrics: Define project success measures and key performance indicators to monitor progress, evaluate results, and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, department leaders, customers, suppliers, and subject matter experts to gather requirements, align priorities, resolve issues, and maintain stakeholder engagement.

  • Change Management: Develop and support change management plans that enable effective adoption of new processes, tools, systems, and ways of working.

  • Continuous Improvement Methodologies: Use Lean, Six Sigma, and other structured problem-solving approaches to improve processes, reduce waste, and strengthen operational performance.

  • Project Controls and Reporting: Maintain project plans, schedules, action logs, risk registers, dashboards, and status reports to provide timely and accurate visibility to stakeholders and senior management.

  • Training and Coaching: Support project teams and business stakeholders in the use of PMO practices, continuous improvement tools, and project execution standards.

  • Best Practices Sharing: Stay current on project management, continuous improvement, defense/aerospace, and technology trends, incorporating relevant best practices into project strategies.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management or in a related field
  • A university or college degree, an asset
  • Have or working toward PMP certification, an asset
  • Aviation experience, an asset
  • Experience supporting defense-sector project definition, systems engineering, enterprise architecture, or capability development activities using the Department of National Defense Architecture Framework (DNDAF), an asset
  • Adaptability to listen, analyze, and convey new solutions to drive project performance and client satisfaction results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • International travel may be required
