Job Overview
The Senior, Project Management has direct responsibility for the administration and implementation of all assigned construction and capital projects. The Senior, Project Management coordinates with contracted suppliers and store management to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior, Project Management serves as the primary point of contact for the Store Environment teams, disseminating information and facilitating critical project decisions from inception to turnover. The role emphasizes improving the customer shopping experience and requires adaptability to change, consistently championing initiatives that reduce costs and save time. The Senior, Project Management demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and performs effectively under pressure in a collaborative team environment.
What You Will Do
  • Support the capital approval process, including budget and scope development, and preparation of phasing plans and project schedules.
  • Oversee construction, bidding, and administration processes in compliance with Capital Control policies and procedures. Participate in developing and maintaining construction cost estimates and forecasts, and manage ongoing budget tracking reports to ensure projects remain within budget.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other Macy's departments, including Stores, Strategic Procurement, Energy, Risk Management, Capital Planning, and Capital Control, demonstrating effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Establish and maintain a network of competitive general contractors, subcontractors, and architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing service suppliers.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to refine and improve project operations and management processes.
  • Collaborate with store, district, and regional partners, as well as suppliers, to resolve property damage claims efficiently.
  • Support the Store Environment team and store organization in efforts to drive sales growth.
  • Mentor and coach Project Managers as needed or upon request.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Skills You Will Need
Project & Construction Management: Ability to administer and implement construction and capital projects, oversee bidding and administration processes, and ensure completion on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
Financial Acumen: Skilled in budget development, cost estimation, forecasting, and ongoing budget tracking to ensure projects remain within financial parameters.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal departments (Stores, Strategic Procurement, Energy, Risk Management, Capital Planning, and Capital Control) and external partners (contractors, subcontractors, and service suppliers) to drive alignment and results.
Strategic Planning & Execution: Capable of developing phasing plans, project schedules, and strategic initiatives to refine and improve project operations and management processes.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Able to identify, assess, and resolve property damage claims, project issues, and operational challenges efficiently.
Communication & Presentation: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present information clearly to customers, leadership, and internal/external partners.
Adaptability & Initiative: Demonstrates flexibility in a fast-paced environment, champions new initiatives, reduces costs, and saves time.
Who You Are
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Master's degree preferred.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on department and company needs.
