Senior Product Development Engineer - Hydraulic Actuation
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to support the design and development of hydraulic rotary actuators and related products. This role will focus on new product development, engineering design, product improvement, and technical problem-solving within a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer who can manage multiple projects, collaborate across departments, and deliver high-quality designs on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Development
  • Design and develop new products using 3D CAD software.
  • Ensure designs meet application requirements, specifications, and appropriate tolerances.
  • Review engineering and ERP bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy before release.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure action items are completed.
  • Perform engineering calculations and apply GD&T principles to product designs.
  • Use FEA to validate and optimize designs for performance and reliability.

Project Management
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize competing demands.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates, challenges, and potential delays.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality and performance requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Provide technical support for customer interactions, trade shows, and technical presentations.
  • Share technical knowledge and mentor other engineering and design team members.
  • Apply knowledge of cost-effective manufacturing processes, machining, and engineering principles to improve product designs.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements, cost reductions, and process improvements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and applicable regulatory requirements related to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Support compliance with material regulations, including REACH, RoHS, SCIP, Conflict Minerals, and California Proposition 65.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in product design and new product development within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software; Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, or the ability to learn these systems quickly.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
