Job description

Description:

Sharetec is looking for a Product Designer to join our team!

At Sharetec, we believe in a people-first business. Our mission is to make millions of people's lives easier by developing innovative core banking and lending software solutions for credit unions and their members. Our customers rely on us for powerful financial technology that enhances operations across accounting, lending, member services, and online banking — and they count on us to be a caring, trusted partner in their success.

The Role

We're looking for a Product Designer to help shape the future of Sharetec's Digital Banking experience. You'll design intuitive, accessible experiences across mobile applications, responsive web platforms, and the administrative tools credit unions use every day to serve their members.

This is a unique B2B2C design opportunity. Our direct customers are credit unions, but their members are the ultimate end users. Success in this role requires balancing the needs of both audiences while creating experiences that are simple, trustworthy, and effective.

You'll own the design process from discovery through delivery — conducting research, defining problems, creating wireframes and prototypes, collaborating with product and engineering teams, and helping evolve our design system as our platform continues to grow.

If you're passionate about solving real user problems, love turning research into meaningful product improvements, and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life, this role may be for you.

Position Details

This is a full-time, exempt position. Candidates may work remotely from anywhere in the United States, with the exception of California, or work in a hybrid capacity from our offices in Fort Wayne, Indiana or Waco, Texas. The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $115,000 based on experience, plus bonus eligibility.

Who Will Love This Job

  • Someone who loves understanding people and translating insights into better products
  • Someone who enjoys solving complex problems and simplifying them for users
  • Someone who cares deeply about details without losing sight of the larger product vision
  • Someone who enjoys collaborating with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders
  • Someone who wants to help modernize digital banking experiences for credit unions and their members
  • Someone who thrives in a growing company where they can make a visible impact

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Product Design & User Experience

  • Design intuitive, accessible experiences across mobile applications (iOS and Android), responsive web platforms, and internal administrative tools
  • Create user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that communicate design intent clearly
  • Ensure consistency across experiences through thoughtful application of design patterns and system components
  • Advocate for usability, accessibility, and user-centered design throughout the product lifecycle

User Research & Discovery

  • Plan and conduct user interviews, usability testing sessions, and other research activities with credit union staff and members
  • Synthesize research findings into actionable recommendations that influence product direction
  • Create and maintain personas, journey maps, research summaries, and other artifacts that help teams understand user needs
  • Apply behavioral design and psychology principles to improve usability, trust, and engagement

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineering teams throughout the design and development process
  • Translate user needs and business objectives into clear design requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Support design-to-development handoff and collaborate with engineering to ensure high-quality implementation

Design Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the growth and maintenance of Sharetec's design system, including reusable components, patterns, and documentation
  • Promote design consistency and efficiency across products and teams
  • Stay current on emerging design trends, tools, accessibility standards, and industry best practices
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve both the user experience and the design process

Qualified Candidates Should Have

Required

  • 2+ years of professional product design, UX design, or UI design experience
  • A portfolio demonstrating your design process and contributions to shipped digital products
  • Experience designing digital experiences for web and/or mobile applications
  • Strong proficiency with Figma, including components, auto layout, variants, and prototyping
  • Experience conducting and synthesizing user research
  • Ability to communicate design decisions effectively through documentation, presentations, and written requirements
  • Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams in an Agile environment
  • Understanding of responsive and adaptive design principles across a variety of devices and screen sizes
  • Strong interaction design and visual design skills, including accessibility best practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred

  • Experience designing financial services, fintech, banking, or other regulated software products
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
  • Experience working with tools such as FigJam, Maze, UserTesting, Dovetail, Miro, or similar research and collaboration platforms
  • Experience collaborating in Jira and Confluence
  • Understanding of design-to-development workflows and design quality assurance
  • Knowledge of banking, payments, lending, account management, or credit union workflows
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, or front-end development constraints
