Job Description:
As a Senior Payments Operations Analyst, this role is accountable for the stability, scalability, and risk integrity of payment operations. The position focuses on optimizing end-to-end payment systems, defining and governing key performance metrics (e.g., transaction speed, failure rates, chargeback ratios), and serving as a primary escalation point for complex or high-impact payment issues. The role requires advanced analytical judgment, strong cross-functional influence, and the ability to translate transaction-level data into strategic insights that drive system improvements, mitigate risk, and support business decision-making.
What You'll Do:
  • Provide oversight and quality control for high value payments, ACH files, and card transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and system stability
  • Monitor transaction performance and trends to proactively identify risks, anomalies, and potential system impacts
  • Lead complex investigations into payment discrepancies and transaction failures
  • Perform in depth root cause analysis to determine operational, technical, or external drivers and recommend corrective and preventative actions
  • Ensure payment operations adhere to financial regulations (e.g., AML, KYC) and internal control requirements
  • Maintain audit ready documentation and partner with compliance and audit teams to address findings and strengthen controls
  • Identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and scalability risks within payment workflows
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to design and implement process and system enhancements that improve efficiency, reliability, and risk posture
  • Act as a senior subject matter expert supporting Customer Support, Finance, and R&D teams on payment data, escalations, and complex technical issues
  • Translate transaction level insights into actionable recommendations for stakeholders
  • Oversee the review, investigation, and resolution of incoming chargeback claims to assess validity and financial exposure
  • Develop and submit comprehensive analysis using transaction data, receipts, records, and user logs
  • Analyze chargeback ratios, trends, and fraud indicators to provide strategic insights and drive preventative controls in partnership with payment and fraud teams

What We're Looking For:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of payments experience preferred
  • Understanding of card payment systems
