SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGER
Location: Kansas City, Kansas
Position Type: Full-Time-Permanent position
Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Compensation: $130K Base Salary + up Plus Bonus eligibility
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Senior Operations Manager to lead critical distribution, inventory, procurement, and supply chain functions.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence operational strategy, drive continuous improvement, and lead high-performing teams that support billions of dollars in product movement annually.

Position Summary
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing large-scale distribution center operations, inventory management, procurement execution, workforce leadership, and supply chain performance. This position will lead cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence, achieve service-level objectives, optimize inventory investments, and support the organization's long-term strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Direct day-to-day operations across distribution, inventory, and supply chain functions.
Develop and execute operational strategies that improve productivity, service levels, and profitability.
Ensure operational processes are aligned with company objectives and customer expectations.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
Oversee inventory planning, replenishment, forecasting, and inventory control processes.
Monitor key performance indicators including inventory turns, fill rates, service levels, shrink, salvage, and days-on-hand.
Partner with procurement, merchandising, transportation, and vendor partners to optimize inventory flow.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks while developing proactive solutions to maintain product availability.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and operational teams.
Build a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
Participate in recruiting, succession planning, employee development, and performance management programs.
Foster employee engagement and create opportunities for professional growth.
Financial & Performance Management
Manage operational budgets and departmental expenses.
Analyze operational data and financial metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop action plans to achieve service, productivity, and profitability goals.
Present performance updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Strategic Planning
Drive long-term operational initiatives that support company growth and scalability.
Lead cross-functional projects focused on automation, process improvement, and operational transformation.
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish annual business objectives and operational priorities.
Support organizational change management efforts and strategic initiatives.
Vendor & Customer Partnership
Strengthen relationships with suppliers, transportation partners, and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with vendor partners to improve inbound performance, service levels, and supply chain efficiency.
Ensure customer expectations are consistently met through exceptional operational execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, or related field preferred.
7+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, distribution, supply chain and inventory management.
Demonstrated success leading large teams in fast-paced operational settings.
Strong understanding of inventory planning, procurement, forecasting, and distribution operations.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience managing operational budgets and performance metrics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
Retail supply chain, food distribution, consumer products, or large-scale logistics operations.
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Multi-site operational leadership experience.
