Job description

As the Senior Technician - Field Inventory, you will provide on-site services for customers and sales through installation and training. You will provide advanced stock/inventory analysis and obtains new product orders. You will also be responsible for promoting sales of new products, spare parts, and consumables. You may coordinate a team of Field Inventory Technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently provide efficient and effective field services to customers in a timely manner including stock inventory, training, preventative maintenance, and sales support, etc.
  • Manage procurement requests, process orders and direct order requests
  • Manage Kanban/Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) process at multiple production plants which includes on-site inventory counts and reconciliation at customer sites
  • Manage vendor relations at local/customer level
  • Work directly with Engineering team at plant site on product evaluations, specifications, substitutes, and conversions which include new product introductions to Engineering team
  • Pick up/deliver products for customers at various warehouse locations
  • Partner with Supervisors on production floor to support manufacturing inventory and to ensure that all product is readily available to avoid line down situations
  • Manage vending sales including vending machine inventory and vending machine maintenance
  • Process monthly consolidated billing as per customer requirements
  • Deliver custom presentations on WESCO LEAN customer value, including Point of Use (vending applications), job trailers and WESCO/EESCODIRECT, ESTOCK.  Advise other Field Service Technicians on these processes
  • Make recommendations on proper techniques to review, control, and release customer orders, report daily customer status, and maintain barcoding and scanning practices for proper product identification and alignment with WESNET
  • Work with Field Service Technicians to develop solutions and serve as an advisor on complex situations
  • May serve as team lead to Field Service Technicians

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License, with a satisfactory driving record required
  • High School Degree or Equivalent required
  • Associate degree (U.S.)/College Diploma (Canada) preferred
  • 3 years of electrical, construction, or mechanical products required, 5 years preferred
  • 3 years of resolving technical, equipment, and service-related issues, 5 years preferred
  • 3 years required, 5 years of preferred field service experience
  • Ability to quickly process information, find solutions to problems and make decisions
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel 75% - 100%

Working Environment: Outside Sales - Work is generally performed in an office environment, but employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities.  Driving may be required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts. Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

Physical Conditions:

  • Work is physically strenuous, and workers are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds
  • Employee required to walk long distances repeatedly throughout the day
  • Employee required to sit and drive a vehicle to perform their job
  • Employee required to use hand tools
  • Employee uses heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.)
This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.

For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan,subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
