Job Summary: The Senior Cost/Inventory Accountant will support the Controller in all aspects of inventory, cost accounting, and coordination with Purchasing while providing support and guidance to the Inventory team. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely close processes, and compliance with GAAP, while serving as a key partner to the Controller and finance leadership.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of cost accounting processes, inventory reporting, standard costing, variance analysis, and related month-end close activities
  • Analyze product costs, labor, material usage, overhead, and production variances
  • Prepare daily and weekly usage analysis and related COGS
  • Work closely with Purchasing for reconciliation of received and billed items
  • Partner with Lab and operations leadership to explain results, identify trends, and improve cost visibility
  • Review inventory transactions, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory valuation for accuracy
  • Provide accurate and informative reporting on Inventory movement, costs and purchasing trends.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience in a Senior Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial analysis
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems
  • Familiarity with NetSuite and Fishbowl preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, laboratory, or highly regulated environments preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
