Job Description
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior PeopleSoft Security Administrator. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Principal Systems Analyst. The position will be located in Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada.
NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: three universities, four community colleges, and one research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada serves over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees and continues to experience significant growth and innovation.
The Senior PeopleSoft Security Administrator provides enterprise leadership for the design, governance, and enforcement of security across the Nevada System of Higher Education Shared Instance of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions environment. The Shared Instance consists of 5 institutions in one environment. This role is accountable for establishing systemwide security architecture, policies, and standards that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of institutional data.
SALARY/GRADE: The Senior Principal PeopleSoft Security Administrator position offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the candidate's education, experience, and certification/training. In addition to base salary*, employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
  • Comprehensive Health Insurance: includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Additionally, an employer paid long term disability plan is included.
  • Outstanding Retirement Plan: professional employees are required to participate in the 401(a) Retirement Plan Alternative (RPA). Employee contributions of 19.25% are matched 100% by the employer and employees experience an immediate vesting in the plan. Employees who currently or previously participated in Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) of Nevada may be eligible to continue in the PERS plan.
  • Paid Leave: generous annual leave (accrual of 2 days per month), sick leave (granted 30 days at time of hire), 12 paid holidays, and paid family leave.
  • Education Benefit: employees and their qualified dependents may take advantage of a tuition savings benefit. Faculty may take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate and their dependents may access an unlimited number of credits, if they meet specific criteria.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience are required. Alternatively, 10 years or more of direct relevant experience in PeopleSoft Security may be substituted. Advanced expertise in PeopleSoft Security experience recommended.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not is not limited to the following areas of responsibility:
  • Security Architecture & Strategy - Lead the design and governance of PeopleSoft security architecture across NSHE institutions. Define role-based access models, permission lists, and row-level security aligned with least-privilege principles and higher education data governance standards.
  • Access Control & Role Management - Oversee the creation, maintenance, and auditing of user roles, permission lists, and profiles across HCM, FSCM, and Campus Solutions. Ensure appropriate access for faculty, staff, and student data.
  • Compliance and Audit Coordination - Ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPPA, GLBA, and NSHE policies. Lead audit responses, prepare documentation, and coordinate remediation efforts for findings related to PeopleSoft security.
  • Security Operations & Administration - Direct daily PeopleSoft security operations, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and troubleshooting access issues. Monitor system security and ensure timely resolution of incidents.
  • Risk Management & Incident Response - Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analysis for PeopleSoft environments. Lead response and mitigation efforts for security incidents involving sensitive student, financial, and HR data.
  • Identity & Access Management Integration - Design and maintain integrations with enterprise identity systems (e.g., SSO, Azure AD, LDAP). Support automated provisioning and authentication mechanisms across NSHE institutions.
  • Change Management & Environment Migration - Review and approve security-related migrations between development, test, and production environments. Ensure adherence to NSHE change management standards.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Evaluate new PeopleSoft features, tools, and security technologies. Recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, automation, and security post
