Job Overview

The individual who starts in this role is typically experienced and well versed as an environmental compliance manager and Caltrans Water Pollution Control Manager role. The Environmental Manager will be part of the Environmental Health and Safety team and will report to a Senior Environmental Manager or Environmental Director. The Environmental Manager shall be an excellent role model for Skanska and subcontractor personnel. Support project teams in identifying and providing solutions for construction environmental compliance. The Environmental Manager must be a flexible and adaptable team player, have strong communication and client service skills.
Environmental Manager Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Environmental Studies or closely related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in sustainability best practices, construction processes and programs.
  • Certifications: Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), Caltrans Water Pollution Control Manager (WPCM), 40 Hour Hazpower training and current 8-Hour Refresher or training complying with Title 22 CA Code of Regs
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction documents, permit requirements and more specifically Caltrans, Los Angeles World Airports and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Plans and Specifications, SWPP and WPCP Forms and Recordkeeping
  • Knowledge of local/state/federal laws and regulations
  • Experience collecting field samples including but not limited to stormwater, soil, and air
  • General understanding of environmental issues related to biological, cultural and paleontological resources, hazards, land use, asbestos, lead, noise and vibration
  • Excellent communication skills and able to prepare written and oral reports in a clear and concise manner
