Job Schedule: 9/80 (employee's work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off)

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Power BI Developer is responsible for architecting, developing, optimizing, and supporting enterprise business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Snowflake, and related technologies. This role partners with business stakeholders, analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to deliver scalable semantic models, dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate the collection and definition of requirements for reporting and analytics projects.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable semantic models, dashboards, reports, and technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and data strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build intuitive, effective, and high-performing reporting solutions.
  • Design and maintain dimensional data models, including fact and dimension tables, relationships, hierarchies, and reusable measures.
  • Develop advanced DAX calculations for KPIs, business rules, time intelligence, and analytical reporting.
  • Build and maintain Power Query / M transformations for data ingestion, cleansing, shaping, and standardization.
  • Develop reporting and analytics solutions using enterprise data platforms including Azure, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, and other cloud or relational data sources.
  • Partner with data engineering and IT teams to support data integration, orchestration, and pipeline workflows that enable reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Optimize Power BI models, datasets, and reports for performance, scalability, usability, and refresh reliability.
  • Support analytics extensions using Microsoft Fabric and, where appropriate, Python and R.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, performance, modeling, refresh, and reporting issues.
  • Implement and maintain report security, workspace standards, deployment practices, and technical documentation.
  • Develop ad hoc reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions as needed.
  • Promote Power BI best practices, governance, and enterprise adoption across the organization.
  • Plan, execute, maintain, and successfully deliver assigned projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (ONE OF THE FOLLOWING)

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels of the company, including senior management.
  • Advanced experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M language), SQL, and dimensional data modeling.
  • Strong experience building and optimizing enterprise Power BI semantic models, reports, dashboards, and data transformations.
  • Experience troubleshooting performance, refresh, query, and usability issues in Power BI environments.
  • Experience with Power BI governance, gateways, deployment pipelines, and row-level security.
  • Experience working with enterprise data platforms and cloud data environments such as Azure, Azure Data Factory, and Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of modern BI development practices, including governance, documentation, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with Azure data services, Azure Data Factory pipelines, and Snowflake in support of analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Experience with Python and/or R.
  • Familiarity with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Performance Analyzer, or similar tools.
