Role:
Great products aren't just something you wear-they're meant to be used, relied on, and lived in. We're looking for an experienced Senior Technical Designer with a focus on men's and youth products across athletic, lifestyle, tops, bottoms, outerwear, hard goods to join our Austin-based team and help shape the future of our brand. In this role, you will serve as the apparel technical owner leading the development process from initial concept through production readiness. Partnering closely with Design and Product Development teams, you will translate creative vision and performance requirements into industry-leading products-ensuring fit, construction, materials, and cost targets are achieved without compromising quality or product integrity. You will bring a high level of technical expertise to the organization, driving fit consistency, solving complex construction challenges, and establishing best practices that elevate our product development process. As a key technical partner, you will influence product decisions, mentor cross-functional teams, and help build scalable systems and standards that support brand growth.
The position reports to the Product Development Manager and is based at our Austin headquarters, with relocation support available.

What You'll Do
  • Own end-to-end technical development from concept through production handoff and bulk approval
  • Partner with Design and Product Develop teams to interpret design intent, establish technical direction, and deliver products that meet brand standards for fit, function, quality, and performance
  • Lead fit evaluations and proactively identify opportunities to improve fit, construction, and manufacturing execution
  • Drive consistent fit execution through detailed technical analysis, fit corrections, visual assessments, and block/pattern development
  • Review and approve sample measurements, construction details, specifications, and BOMs to ensure accuracy and production readiness
  • Develop and manage graded patterns across Men's and Youth size ranges, ensuring consistency and scalability
  • Lead cross-functional fit sessions and communicate clear recommendations, decisions, and next steps to internal and external partners
  • Collaborate with overseas development and manufacturing partners to troubleshoot technical challenges and drive solutions
  • Establish and improve technical development processes, standards, and guidelines to increase efficiency and product consistency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across Technical Development, Product Development, and broader business teams
  • Take assigned styles from SMS through bulk production, releasing final specs for fit, construction, and BOM

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree Tech Design, Patternmaking or equivalent professional experience
  • 8-12+ years of experience in Apparel Technical Designer/Developer (mostly men's) apparel
  • Advanced knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, fit standards, grading, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex product categories and drive development from concept through production
  • Strong product acumen with experience across technical apparel categories including shirts, pants, shorts, layering, outerwear, and performance-driven products
  • Experience partnering with Design, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Product teams in a fast-paced product development environment
  • Advanced understanding of BOMs, specifications, tech packs, and PLM systems
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and technical drawing tool
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, solve problems, and make sound technical recommendations
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams while communicating clearly with both technical and creative partners
  • Highly adaptable, solutions-oriented, and comfortable navigating ambiguity and change
