Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Fort Financial Credit Union by delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members/business members. A key element of excellent service is to identify the financial needs of each member/business member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. In addition, this position may receive business members in person and by telephone. May be required to conduct in-depth interviews with business members or their consultants directly and by telephone to obtain all necessary information for making credit decisions. Makes sound credit decisions regarding the approval of member business loans to ensure the lowest element of risk. Manage the day-to-day operation of the Business Lending department. Ensure compliance with state and federal lending laws. Monitor and analyze economic conditions affecting the business lending loan industry and recommend appropriate action. Support, lead, mentor, and coach staff to exceed credit unions expectations.
Critical Requirements of the position include:
Strong relationship banking background
Proven ability to self-source business
Comfortable with C&I, CRE, and owner-occupied
Can manage a $20-$40MM portfolio
Strong credit sense.
In addition:
  1. Provides general credit union information on all credit union services and policies, interest rates, terms of loans, dividends and interest computations, and insurance coverage with an emphasis on Business Lending.
  2. Ensure that the Member Business Lending and Business Lending participation policies and procedures best serve the Credit Union and its business members.
  3. Meets with business members to determine creditworthiness.
  4. Assesses credit risks and identifies mitigating factors.
  5. Provide knowledge and expertise on establishing and maintaining the member business loan policies and procedures.
  6. Assists in determining the proper products and structure for our business lending members.
  7. Recommend new business loan products and business deposit products on an ongoing basis.
  8. Assists senior credit analyst, credit analysts, and business operations in annual reviews for our business lending members, including assisting in obtaining proper financial documents.
  9. Identifies and mitigates any loan policy exceptions.
  10. Develop each employee to their highest potential by identifying their areas for improvement and appropriately coaching, training or correcting the employees' performance.
  11. Hold employees accountable for their performance, attitude and behavior.
  12. Meet with each employee monthly to review previous month's performance, set goals for upcoming month's performance and develop plans to improve employees' performance
  13. Works with the team regarding business loan structure and establishing loan covenants for our business members.
  14. Maintains a highly motivated, well-trained staff maintaining effective employee relations.
  15. Make recommendations for additional staff training needs with lending policies and procedures.
  16. Assists business lending team that approved and funded business loans are properly documented, liens perfected, and all paperwork properly completed.
  17. Recommend loan alternatives for business members, as necessary.
  18. Remains current with compliance regulations, economic conditions and state and federal laws as they related to Member Business Lending.
  19. Assist in closings to ensure that all documents are executed and returned to the business lending department.
  20. Ensures that all collateral documents are executed and then appropriately filed by the business lending department.
  21. Responsible for overseeing each business relationship with regard to monitoring the relationship, staying in contact with the business owners, reviewing updated information and keeping the business lending department appraised as changes occur.
  22. Assist in the on-going refinement of business lending procedures provided to our members.
  23. Assist in the development of new loan programs and loan products that include member business lending guidelines/rules and compliance.
  24. Oversee the call process and include the business analyst/business operations manager or Vice President of Lending when necessary.
  25. Responsible for collection efforts for all loans originated by Business Lending Officer.
  26. Work with minimal direct supervision and utilize independent judgement and decision making.
  27. Performs such duties as may be commensurate with the position of Vice President - Business Lending Officer, which may include special projects, as directed by the EVP/CLO.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
EDUCATION
(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
