Apparel & Footwear | Los Angeles, CA | Hybrid (Mon-Thurs onsite, Fri WFH)
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Color Designer to join a fast-moving, innovation-driven creative team embedded within a high-profile brand collaboration. This role sits at the intersection of fashion, product, and storytelling - bringing color to life across a dynamic range of categories and consumer segments. If you thrive in environments that balance structured process with creative agility, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
Color Design & Execution Plan, develop, and execute seasonal color designs across a designated category or division. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product marketing, development, and materials teams to build color solutions that are both visually compelling and commercially viable. Own the color calendar, manage timelines, review samples, and drive final confirmation of all changes through to execution.
Color Strategy & Storytelling Develop innovative, market-ready color solutions that speak to a specific consumer or category. Research color, design, lifestyle, and market trends to inform product direction from briefing through sampling. Partner with Category and Design leadership to define seasonal color merchandising strategies and narratives. Contribute to bi-annual color committee preparation.
Consumer & Market Insight Bring a deep understanding of the target consumer - their habits, culture, and relationship with the brand - to every color decision. Stay sharp on competitor products, retail trends, and emerging aesthetics to ensure the line remains relevant and differentiated.
Presentation & Communication Clearly communicate color direction internally, producing presentation materials that connect color strategy to consumer insights, product concepts, and creative vision. Present seasonal category-specific color direction to cross-functional stakeholders.
Mentorship & Skill Development Contribute to the broader creative organization by mentoring junior designers and sharing expertise in materials, special effects, technical execution, and presentation tools. Continuously develop your craft and expand your knowledge of the business.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant color design experience (or equivalent education/experience combination)
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience working in fast-paced fashion or lifestyle product environments
  • Strong knowledge of color achievability and execution across a variety of substrates and materials
  • Process-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to shifting business priorities
  • Familiarity with full-product execution workflows in an apparel or footwear context

Bonus Points For
  • Deep knowledge of textiles and materials
  • Footwear color design experience
  • Experience with technical design or uploading to product development platforms (e.g., Aurora)
  • Background working at a startup or direct-to-consumer fashion brand (Skims, Revolve, Alo, and similar)
  • Experience navigating both large corporate brand structures and leaner, faster creative environments

Why This Role
This is a unique collaboration that blends the resources and reach of a global brand with the speed and creative energy of a fashion-forward startup environment. We're looking for someone who doesn't just fit the mold - but helps shape it.
