Lead Laboratory Technologist - Microbiology - Part Time - Evenings
At NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester, Laboratory Technologists are redefining the limits of science and medicine. We study some of the most complex and rarely seen medical conditions - with unmatched energy and expertise. Join our team as a Lead Laboratory Technologist.
As a Lead Technologist at NewYork-Presbyterian, you will oversee the daily operations of the Microbiology section of the laboratory. Take on this important role that maintains a daily schedule of personnel to ensure all sections of the laboratory are adequately staffed for the specimen volume. Oversee/participate in the technical operations including QA/QC checks, system maintenance issues, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting. Oversee laboratory staff in the performance of qualitative and quantitative test procedures. Act as reference source for technologists in the correlation of test data. Implement solutions to problems in processing and delivering highly accurate patient data. Participate in QA/QC concerns, which relate to result data delivery and patient care. Participate in the orientation and training of staff. Serve as contact person for calls from nursing units and physicians. Track and respond to questions relating to testing procedures and results. Here you'll have an opportunity to work to the fullest capacity of your license with nationally accredited colleagues while contributing to lifesaving results.
The shift for this Part Time Weekends position is Evenings with 3 shifts one week and 2 shifts the next. The shift is negotiable 2PM - 10PM or 3PM to 11PM. Location is our NYP Westchester campus in Bronxville NY, opposite the Metro North train station.
Preferred Criteria
  • ASCP certification
  • Master's degree in Medical Technology or related science
  • Laboratory supervisory experience
  • Experience with laboratory regulations and/or CAP inspections

Required Criteria
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a technologist, or 2 years of experience with a Master's degree
  • Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures
  • Strong communication skills
