Position Summary:
The Associate Director of After School Programs is responsible for the daytoday leadership, coordination, and longterm development of TVTโ€™s Explorers and Extended Day programs. This role ensures that afterschool programming is safe, wellsupervised, studentcentered, and aligned with TVTโ€™s mission, academic vision, and character priorities. The Associate Director serves as the operational lead during program hours, the primary point of contact for families, faculty, vendors, and staff, and a strategic partner in designing engaging, highquality offerings that meet the needs of students and families. This position balances hands-on program management with planning, communication, and systems oversight, ensuring a consistent, joyful, and wellrun experience for students each day and across semesters.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide daily leadership and supervision of the after school programs, ensuring student safety, clear routines, and smooth transitions from the academic day into afterschool programming.
  • Develop and oversee new programming for grades 6-8
  • Oversee student supervision, attendance tracking, communication systems, and dismissal procedures to ensure accurate, responsive, and wellcoordinated operations.
  • Serve as the central point of coordination for afterschool instructors, substitutes, staff, and thirdparty vendors, ensuring coverage, preparedness, and alignment with program expectations.
  • Support positive student behavior and community norms by addressing behavioral concerns promptly and consistently in partnership with faculty and families.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, faculty, administrators, and vendors regarding schedules, changes, concerns, and program updates.
  • Monitor program quality by regularly visiting classes, supporting instructors, and ensuring programming reflects TVTโ€™s standards for engagement, care, and instructional integrity.
  • Manage operational systems and tools related to afterschool programming, including enrollment platforms, rosters, attendance data, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions, and Academic Leadership to support timely promotion, registration, and communication for Explorers offerings.
  • Coordinate logistics related to materials, snacks, space usage, scheduling, and weather or facilityrelated adjustments.
  • Partner with school leadership on budgeting, invoicing, and financial tracking related to afterschool programs, following established protocols.
  • Oversee vendor partnerships and program finances, coordinating staffing needs, supporting HR-managed contract processes, ensuring completion of required documentation, and managing invoicing and budget tracking for Explorers and Extended Day.
  • Design and propose afterschool course offerings that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with TVTโ€™s academic, cultural, and character goals.
  • Collaborate with faculty, specialists, and external partners to expand and refine program offerings across semesters.
  • Support semesterbased planning, including staffing models, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure program readiness by meeting established deadlines for course development, registration launch, materials procurement, and staff training.
  • Contribute to ongoing reflection and improvement of the Explorers and Extended Day programs, using feedback and data to notice trends and inform future planning.

Required On Campus Time will be during Afterschool@TVT programming:ย 

  • Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 6:00pm
  • Friday 2:00 pm - 5:00pm

This position is an 11-month, exempt role at 75% FTE and is eligible for benefits.ย 

Qualifications (preferred):

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required; advanced coursework or degree in education, youth development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational, enrichment, or afterschool setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage programs, supervise adults, and respond calmly and effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfort with technology platforms for enrollment, communication, and data tracking.
