Qualified applicants are being sought for the School Nutrition Manager for Madison Primary School. The School Nutrition Manager will manage the foodservice program in an individual school according to school division policies and procedures to meet U.S. Department of Agriculture and Virginia Department of Education, School Nutrition Program Laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year experience in school foodservice is required
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Specialized training in foodservice management is desirable
  • Willingness to attend special manager meetings
  • Must be able to lift 40-pound cases when working in storage areas
  • Must be willing to wear uniform-type clothing; hairnet or cap covering hair; and closed toe-, leather, non-skid shoes

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedules, supervises, and instructs School Nutrition Personnel
  • Oversees the production and service of high quality school meals that meet USDA meal requirements
  • Responsible for preparation of assigned foods served for breakfast and lunch, to meet USDA program requirements
  • Maintains high standards of sanitation and personnel safety in the cafeteria
  • Prepares and maintains required records of cash, food, supplies, and equipment
  • Cooperates with school division central office personnel, the school principal, and teachers to promote the School Nutrition Program as part of the total educational environment for students
    SALARY: $23,800 - $34,864 annual salary, with benefits;based upon experience as a School Cafeteria Manager. The Cafeteria Manager is a 10 month (185-day contract, 7 1/2 hours per day), classified position with a Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exempt status.
    WORKING CONDITIONS: Kitchen will be well lighted and ventilated, but may have no air conditioning. Working hazards in an institutional kitchen may include sprains, falls, burns, and cuts. Cleaning chemicals must be used according to safety requirements.
