Primary Function

Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Helps manage inventory of raw materials, establish and monitor the production schedules for the facility to achieve customer requirements.

  • Assists in preparing of production schedules and work orders.

  • Acts as a support contact with sales, manufacturing, and logistics, determining resource constraints, and developing plans to achieve customers' needs.

  • Compiles records of production and reports on volume, materials, etc.

  • Reviews computerized inventory of raw materials against present and anticipated sales orders. Activates reorder points where judgment determines an anticipated shortfall.

  • Prepares detailed production schedules in accordance with required volumes, plant capacity and materials availability.

  • Enters specific sales orders into the master schedule based on requested customer delivery dates, availability of raw materials, and equipment.

  • Assists in maintaining the master production schedule for the facility, reviewing daily to adjust for changes in customer requirements, delay in receiving raw materials, availability of production equipment, etc.

  • Collaborates with more experienced engineers in deciding the use of production machines, equipment and tools, and determines their technological conditions and quality parameters.

  • Assist Senior Production planner resolves issues with suppliers relative to material availability and quality.

  • Identifies and communicates material supply issues that may affect production schedules.

  • Helps analyze and eliminate slow-moving and obsolete inventory.

  • Reviews monthly marketing forecasts, and adjusts master schedules accordingly.

  • Assist with and analyze MRP and forecast data, generate purchase orders, and manage Kanban’s to meet production needs with minimal inventory investment.

  • Assists with coordinating material shipments with internal and external logistics services.

  • Manages raw and finished goods inventory.

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience in manufacturing, production planning, and materials control function.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with MS Office, internet browsers, and computerized production planning system such as MRP II.

  • Ability to analyze situations and react in a timely manner necessary.

  • Execeptional customer orientation, sense of urgency, and problem solving skills.

  • SAP experience or other transportation management system experience preferred.

  • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
