Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Saw Department Lead in our York, PA facility. The Saw Department Lead  is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the saw department. This role ensures that saw operations run smoothly and efficiently to meet production schedules and customer requirements. The Saw Department Lead provides guidance to saw operators, ensures proper equipment use and maintenance, and promotes a safe and organized work environment in the aluminum fabrication facility.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and oversees the cutting and sawing processes within the saw department to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Performs setups and operates saw machinery as needed, and ensures equipment is correctly configured for production runs.
  • Monitors production schedules and assigns tasks to saw operators to ensure timely completion of orders.
  • Communicates with the Fabrication Supervisor regarding production progress, equipment needs, and any operational concerns within the saw department.
  • Identifies and reports the need for new tooling, replacement parts, and proper maintenance of saw equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Inspects materials and finished products for accuracy, quality, and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of production output, machine maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Ensures the saw department follows all safety procedures and company policies, promoting a clean and organized work area.
  • Provides training, guidance, and support to saw operators to improve performance and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying ways to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance within the saw department.
  • Uses forklift to stage materials and remove finished products.
  • May assist in lead coverage in other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support production and company goals.
Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

 

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience 

  • Previous experience operating saw machinery in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Prior leadership experience in a production or fabrication setting is preferred.
  • Experience in an aluminum fabrication facility is beneficial. 

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      

  • The Saw Department Lead must have the ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, are necessary for measuring materials and monitoring production output.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are necessary to identify and resolve production or equipment issues.
  • Leadership skills are essential for training, guiding, and supporting saw operators. Strong organizational and communication skills are needed to prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
  • Regular attendance required
